Automatic Watch Folder Tool works not properly for ext. Drives
the great automatic watch folder does not work very good. i have installed the 1.2. beta-version of songbird and i have my folder on a external disk station via wireless-lan. i have also running mediamonkey and i have tested to make changes in the genres in the MM-library and some changes are seen in the songbird-library and some not. what is actually the stand of this tool ? should it work properly for external drives ? is there a difference between a direct usb-port or wireless-lan ? in which distances of time the automatic watch folder tool will run to watch changes ?

Inappropriate?Interesting, I test this with an external Firewire drive on Windows Vista and it works fine, however I have not tested this on a network drive. If you could give us a bit more details on what type of network drive it is (SMB, AFP, NFS etc) and how your trying to organize your library we can file a bug on this and get it fixed for you :).
I’m unsure

Hi Stevo, sorry my fault, i didn't know that i have to restart the program to see the changes. is there no way of let this run while songbird is running ? Greetings Holger -
Inappropriate?Hi Stevo, i hope i do right to reply on my own question again. i want to ask you again about the watch folder tool. i have changed the genre of two artists in my library (not in songbird, but with another tag-tool, id3tagit). after doing these changes, i started songbird and after a while there was one change seen (artist "7 Seconds" genre changing from "post-hardcore" to "hardcore"), but the change of artist "Thursday" (genre changing from "hardcore" to "post-hardcore") is not be seen until now (i was running my NAS external storage for about 8hours). Now i have a few questions: - how exactly is watch folder working ? songbird starts and then it checks the whole mp3-folder for changes ? did songbird starts the watch tool in the same row as my library shows (then "7 Seconds" is one of the first and "Thursday" is at the end) ?
I am a little bit confused, because i want to use songbird as my new mp3-player. there are a lot of features i was looking for so long, but i want to know, if this watch folder tool works properly.
greetings
holger
