Best way to add track numbers?

I download a lot of live recordings that do not have much metadata so I must input it manually. I found a decent method with iTunes for track numbers, just leave the track field highlighted and click next. I just tried doing this with songbird and it took much longer, the field would not stay highlighted and there was a delay after every couple of songs I edited. It's really great that I can have my FLAC files in here and I hope there is a better way of inputting track numbers
