I'm still using Songbird 0.7 version. Will I lose all my bookmarks if I install Songbird 1.2.0?

Thanks for your help.

    G'day,

The reality is, 0.7 is ANCIENT, and was actually a developer/Technology preview primarily. I think though that there may have been an upgrade path from 0.7->1.0, then 1.0-> 1.1, then 1.1-> 1.1.1, then 1.1.1->1.4 (or 1.2 possibly), but, if there was a way to go from 0.7 to 1.0, it wasn't very reliable.

I wouldn't rely on it. You should certainly dump 0.7, however I would start with a fresh profile, and go straight to 1.4b1 instead of 1.2. Because its possible you'll end up with a few issues otherwise (especially since 0.7 was a testing ground).

Just some advise really.. If you wish to proceed, your best option is to:
    1) First uninstall all plugins, and revert to the original feather included with songbird (which may have been gonzo for that version, but maybe not). Many plugins for 0.7 aren't compatible with 1.x anyway. Take a screenshot of them, and reinstall them if they are later (if you go to 1.4b1, then you'll find many are still catching up anyway, but any which aren't compatible with 1.2, probably are no longer maintained)
    2) Backup your profile. The upgrade path may not be clear cut, and if you are really determined, then you'll want to ensure you can get it back up and running on 0.7, if need be.
    3) If you are running PPC, not Intel/AMD, then you are screwed. You can upgrade to 1.1.2 using community efforts, but in the long run, you may have trouble
    4) Ensure you are running the latest OS version. 1.2 is NOT compatible with Windows2K (I tried it). The reason is that 0.7 uses VLC (mplayer?) still to work, but Gstreamer wont work on 2k. That, and the interface is all messed up. You'll need to upgrade to XP, Vista, or Windows 7 instead (with the latest Service pack).
    5) Upgrade release by release. Ensure you are running 0.7.0 first.
    6) Then use the installers from: http://www.filehippo.com/download_son... to upgrade incrementally release to release (only the final versions, NOT the betas). Run songbird immediately after installing each version (which should upgrade the library). IF YOU GET A WARNING TO DELETE THE LIBRARY, STOP. If it doesn't migrate from 0.7 to 1.0, then you'll need a seperate script.

Because 0.7 to 1.0 is the only version jump I can't remember if there was an automatic library upgrade mechanism for..

    Anyway, good luck.
