Can I import ratings from itunes?
Can I import ratings from Itunes? Obviously the built in integer does not, but maybe there's another way.

Inappropriate? The short answer is no. You cannot import ratings because Songbird ratings are not stored in files. For an explanation of ratings in Songbird please see this:

Inappropriate?I read the explanation and I think that raiting importing/keeping would be most appreciated by users, but anyway, its your call.
Thanks for the quick reply.
I’m sad

Inappropriate?Well no, it isn't my call, nor was it my decision. It was a hard, controversial decision for the Product Manager to make, but it had to be made. This does not mean it cannot be changed in the future.
We appreciate your feedback. Thanks. -
Inappropriate?Of all of the things sb is missing, this is probably the one that really keeps me from changing player. I've rated all my songs using other players before I started using sb. All that information is lost within sb and I'm not obviously going to rate my songs again. Can't there be an option that one could choose so that the rating metadata can be available on sb?

Inappropriate?Yes, Songbird can import ratings from iTunes!
To try this out try re-importing your iTunes library. Don't hesitate to ask if you need help figuring out how to do this!

Could you please explain? Mine do not seem to update. -
GregWeb, I'm happy to help, can you email me at support @ songbirdnest dot com - I'd also like to get a few additional bits of data from you such as what version of Songbird and iTunes you're running, your OS, and what steps you took. Thanks! -
Kurgen, can you email me at support @ songbirdnest dot com - I'd like to get a few additional bits of data from you such as what version of Songbird and iTunes you're running, your OS, and what steps you took. Songbird definitely imports iTunes ratings and we'd like to track down any issues (if there are some). Thanks! -
Inappropriate?I've posted here, because I felt the situation described had some similarities to my own case, but the fact is I don't use iTunes. I've rated all my mp3's using both Music Match and Media Monkey, so my question remains: Is there any way I can have my ratings metadata available on sb? Can't there be an option that one could choose so that these ratings can be available displayed on sb?
Thanks!

Unfortunately, Songbird doesn't currently support importing directly from Media Monkey or Music Match. So importing ratings over from those apps into Songbird isn't currently possible. Importing from those apps are great suggestions and I'll be sure to add them to our feature request list. -
Thanks for taking the situation I reported into consideration. I'll be anxiously waiting for the day I can have my ratings available on sb. -
Inappropriate?I am going to let Daniel respond to these as he is the resident expert on the expected behaviour.

Inappropriate?First, thanks to everyone for bringing an issue to our attention!
Our QA team looked into this further today and it appears like there's a bug in Songbird where we only properly import ratings the first time the iTunes importer is run. If you subsequently run the importer, we don't get any ratings. We intend to address this as soon as possible and should have a fix in our next release.
If you're interested, you can follow the status on this bug here.
And, our apologies that the communication wasn't clearer. Thanks again for taking the time to reach out to us so that we can make things right.
