Beyond the 0.6.1 release, no. Unless someone creates and offers a community build, we will not be offering Songbird 0.7 or later for PPC Macs. You can download an archived binary of Songbird 0.6.1 for PPC here.

Inappropriate?weak sauce. powerpc users getting left in the cold.
I’m pissed. I had been following songbird for over a year now and was anticipating using it. Now not sure if I will even if I get an intel mac.

Inappropriate?Yeah...
That's a real bummer. Many people have either only a PowerPC or two machines where one is an older one.
This is a real disappointment. I had also been following this for some time and feel a bit let down. At least if people would've known about it...
Thanks for the archived download though! -
Inappropriate?@maxime
It was a tough decision. To be fair though, we did communicate this on our blog back in July. My apologies for not calling it out in our email/blog post for the beta release, it was simply an oversight on my part. -
Inappropriate?Ditto with me on this. I've followed Songbird since a very early and buggy beta version and was impressed enough to recommend it as an open source, cross platform alternative over all other products. Now it is utterly useless to me. Could you not at least do a community build for us for this major release? You wouldn't have to support it at all, but to have it avaliable. Failing that, some instructions on what I need to compile it (I'm pretty terminal savvy as I imagine others are - we can all do a couple of make can't we?)
I’m very sad.

Inappropriate?Ditto - been using it on and off and watching it progress ... I have PowerPCs (a few of them) at home -- I know it is hard to support different binaries and platforms and it adds considerably to development time and resources ... however, I wish it weren't the case!
Am sorry to see this option go.
Hopefully someone will have build instructions or release a community binary -- or I guess I will have to go buy new computers (wink). I may just have to wait a few more years until all my systems are upgraded to enjoy the cross-platform goodness.

Inappropriate? One more piece of excellent open source software dropped PowerPC support. And nobody knows why, staff's answers are dark. Yep, I've read another blog too, "number of ppc users dipped...". Heh, number of ppc-users now is about 1%. The SAME (okay, maybe little less) install base as for ALL linuxes. Okay, Apple turned from PPC, but I'm also using Linux, which is known for its great portability. But... there's no Linux-PPC binaries of Songbird too! Despite all of this, your http://getsongbird.com/ site says "0.7.0 for ALL platforms". To be honest, change it to "for supported platforms", okay?

P.S. I'll never buy and will never use any kind of Intel hardware (regardless is it from DELL, Compaq, Apple, etc.). PowerPC platform is much better. Even if I left with only './configure && make && make install'.
I’m frustrated and angry
