Cannot import FLAC files with embedded cover art
When importing my music library, I noticed that some files are not imported (I cannot see them anywhere after importing) and they are all FLAC files with embedded cover art.
I understand from other topics on this board that album art in FLAC files will be displayed in future version but in the mean time, it would be great to just be able to listen to these files.
Regards,
AlbanP

Inappropriate?I just imported an album that is in Flac, that had full Meta Data showing in Foobar2000. The album art was named [cover.jpg] in same folder as files.
The files imported OK and the cover art shows but other than the track name the meta was blank.
However the album was there at the very end of the list in my library and I edited the meta data from within songbird. Now all is fine.
Maybe your files are hiding at the end of your library :-)
Oh and the Flac files play perfectly

Inappropriate? My files were hiding at the end of my library, thanks a lot :)
Regarding the album art, my album art is embedded into the FLAC file, so there is no file [cover.jpg] in the album folder. Since you were able to reproduce my issue, maybe your FLAC files had album art as a file [cover.jpg] AND embedded into the FLAC metadata ?
Regarding the metadata, I'm not sure I understand why editing it in Songbird changes anything if the metadata is already there... (Like you, I can see all metadata for these songs in Foobar). I tried anyway and I had an error message "Songbird was unable to write metadata back to your media file..."
I’m undecided

Inappropriate?HI AlbanP,
I have the same problem too - I included cover art within the FLAC metadata, but songbird does not read it. What version of Songbird are you using?
-
Inappropriate?I'm using Songbird 1.0.0, Build 860 (20081124135419)

Inappropriate?I've got the same problem.
I have a lot of FLAC files.
I use MP3Tag for editing the metadata, because a lot of audio files can be edited at once.
In Songbird, the metadata is not read. :-(

Inappropriate?I have got the same problem... BUT, it started after the version upgrade from 1.0.
With the 1st version:
-FLAC filed read and play OK
-The cover art is saved as "cover.jpg" file in the album's folder and songbird was able to see see it and show it.
After upgrading to newer version, even after re-imported the FLAC files, the cover art was not seen (or not even imported?).
Is this is aversion problem? If yes, how can I go back to version 1.0? Ay ideas,
Regards,

Inappropriate?Same here...
Embedded covert art is not shown in Songbird, while it is perfectly displayed with Foobar, Mediamonkey, J.River Media Center, and some other progs.
On the other hand, tag info is perfect - not one tag missing. I even edited some tags with Songbird, and checked back in other media centers and they remained correct. So, in my case, except for album art, Flac is handled correctly.
But anyway I'm not happy about the missing art, I won't be using this bird until this has been fixed !
I’m pissed off

Inappropriate?I have to agree with some of the above comments. This really is a deal breaker.
