Can't import from iTunes in Linux
I installed Songbird 1.0 and I can't import my iTunes library. I was able to do this with many other music players, and I've edited the library so all the song locations are correct - why can't Songbird do this?! I can't even find an addon that will do it...
I tried to uninstall Songbird 1.0 to revert to 0.7, since I think there's an importer that works with 0.7, but I ran into another problem - why can't I uninstall this thing?!

Inappropriate?Hi kmarie0510,
Unfortunately, you can not import your iTunes library on Linux. The information about iTunes library is stored in an .xml file created by iTunes. Songbird is using iTunes Importer to read the .xml file and import your iTunes library; however, iTunes Importer is currently not available in Songbird builds for Linux.

Inappropriate?YESSSSS someone on this website (not the company) helped me fix my problem! Helpful user Igronning posted a solution on a similar "problem" posting and I shall repost it here, since it worked for me:
>> I found a simple solution to the problem:
>> 1. find the chrome/songbird.manifest file
>> 2. find the line chrome://songbird/content/xul/preferences
>> /importLibraryPrefs.xul os=WINNT os=WINNT"
>> 3. And replace it with "chrome://songbird/content/xul/preferences
>> /importLibraryPrefs.xul"
Remember that you also need to open the itunes library XML file and run a find/replace on the locations so that they're right. Also please back up everything of course.
This is really an easy fix to implement, considering it just took a line change in a file, and I don't know why it isn't part of Songbird for Linux. How many of us (like me) are switching to Linux & Songbird from Windows/Mac & iTunes?
I’m happy someone solved my problem

This also worked for Ubuntu for me as well - just shared my mac's Itunes Library with Ubuntu and I have it looking at Itunes library so it keeps uptodate :) -
Inappropriate?I just made an importer for linux. It'll find the files no matter the path, since it searches in different ways. Check it out if you're interested:
