Compilations missing

Where are my compilations?
I am using songbird linux in ubuntu , so I have no iTunes library to import. I used the scan for media option in order to create a library by scanning my music directory. Within that directory I have all my compilations grouped in a folder labeled compilations [followed by the album title folder containing the mp3s]. The rest of my library is organized by Artist>Album>mp3. Songbird seems to have no problem on picking up all those albums, but it does not show a single Album/Artist that is located in the compilations directory after the scan!!
I read that there is a problem that some people have regarding the lack of a compilations grouping in songbird - it would of course be nice to have such an option like in iTunes, it makes life a lot easier when you have a lot of compilations in your library and don't want to search by album title. However, in my case I songbird doesn't even seem to load those files in the compilations folder.
What do I need to do to make songbird integrate these files into my library structure?
