While playing FLAC albums, Songbird throws this message "could not decode stream". Why is this happening?

Inappropriate?I am on Linux, Ubuntu Jaunty x86_64, and this error is consistently thrown at certain points in some FLAC songs (the same places in the same songs everytime) during playback, causing the program to skip to the next track in the playlist immediately. I have only ever observed this behavior on FLAC files.
-
Inappropriate?same here, win7. Only on FLAC. When double click in playlist - plays normally, but when automatically changing in playlist - mostly gives this message after 1-2 - seconds & and jumps to next song. This happens VERY often.
I’m againg on winamp only to play FLAC

Inappropriate?Alright, I found a solution in my case. When I decoded those files with the FLAC command-line client, I found that those files were somehow corrupted, because they threw a checksum error (I think it was Error 2 for me) on specific frame. Most other media players will drop the bad frame, so if you're listening carefully, the music will skip. Songbird, on the other hand, aborts playback immediately. So I would say to check your FLAC files for errors. Maybe Songbird should make its playback more robust, too.

and how do I check it for errors? Additionally, how to check many files in one batch? Moreover, how to repair if the error found? And still the question - it does not do it every time on the same file - if there is an error, it should always not be able to play the file, so what is happening? -
For MP3 playback at least, this is properly fixed in 1.4.0 (possibly flac too). Might be worth giving 1.4.0 a try, and if it doesn't work, post a bug report -
Inappropriate?Hey lchigo, have you updated to 1.2? In my case, it got fixed when i updated.
I’m happy

I have 1.2 build 1146. The latest :( -
Inappropriate?I also have this problem on 1.2.0, build 1146. It throws this error if I skip a couple songs at a time, just double clicking a song works perfectly.
I’m :| ing so hard right now.

Inappropriate?Same problem here. Songbird 1.2.0 build 1146 running on Ubuntu 9.10. flac files generate the above mentioned error.

Inappropriate?Hi all -
The 1.2 release had several issues with error handling, unfortunately. I would encourage you guys to either download the current stable beta..... or wait just a short while for the next release. -_^
Hope that helps!
