Cutting off the end of songs
It seems that when a song is finishing songbird tends to cut off the last two seconds or so of a song. Although it's unnoticeable on some songs, it tends to ruin the feel of other songs. Despite this, the player works fantastically.

Inappropriate?Hm. That's rather odd. Does it do it all the time?
What OS are you running and what Version of Songbird? -
Inappropriate?...
Oddly enough, It seems that it's fixed. Bizarre.
I'm currently using XP, and if I remember properly it was happening with songs purchased off iTunes which were then taken into the songbird library, and I'm currently using Version: Songbird 1.0.0, Build 860.
I’m confused
-
Inappropriate? But the problem is gone now? Nice ;-)
-
Inappropriate?I'm having the same problem. It's really annoying.
I hope somebody knows how to solve this.
Btw I'm listening to normal mp3s and my OS is XP resp. Vista. (the same thing occurs on both OS...) -
May I ask, what CPU you have and how much RAM? -
Inappropriate? This happens to me on most every song.
Dell Inspirion e1705
Windows XP Media Center Ediition Version 2002, Service Pack 3
1 gb of RAM
2.00 GHZ -
Inappropriate?Could be a performance related problem. Lets see, what the next Version of Songbird brings to the table. It is only days away now.
-
Inappropriate? This is know happening to me with 1.1.1, didn't happen with 1.0, and fixes?
-
Inappropriate?New problem for me with 1.1.1.
-
Inappropriate? With the last release, i've the same problem, the last 2 seconds of many songs are cut.
-
Inappropriate?I am having this problem as well. Do you have any idea how frustrating it is to listen to several minutes of melismatic polyphony only to have the rug ripped out from under me right before it resolves?
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate? It's apparently an off and on thing...
Has anything been done to fix this? -
Inappropriate?I believe this is bug 15710, which is still marked "unconfirmed" in the bug tracker. I attached a couple of mp3's to the bug report which always produce this behavior on my machine, but it seems no one else has tried to reproduce it yet.

Inappropriate? All of you, who experience this problem, go subscribe to the bug report Mike M filed and add your findings to it.
That way this problem gets heard even louder! -
Inappropriate?I get this too, it does seem to be an on/off problem. I'll go mention the precise issue in the bug report.
I’m frustrated

Ah, or not. I'm not going to sign up to ANOTHER website, I do too much of that already. So I'll mention the specifics of what I get here.
I'm running Windows Vista, on a 2GHz dual core laptop with 3GB RAM. I seem to get this problem intermittently, but there are some specific songs which do it. At first I thought it was due to incorrect gapless playback info, but after I wiped all that from the metadata I still had the same problem. I also find that the track name and album art changes to the next track around 8 seconds before the current track should end. I'm not sure if this is intended behaviour. -
Inappropriate?Same problem, latest Songbird, Windows XP. Happens about half the time, when lsteneing to a plylist, the end of songs are cutoff... very annoying.
I’m annoyed

Inappropriate?Extra find: For some reason, if the end of a song doesn't get cut off when it usually would, sometimes the beginning of the next song does instead.
-
Another point: the amount of time cut off seems to be roughly double the buffer length. I was getting a cut off of ~8 seconds when my buffer was on 4000ms; then when I turned the buffer down to 2000ms the cut off went to ~4 seconds. I tried running the buffer at 100ms but this didn't seem to produce the same effect. -
Inappropriate?I have the same problem, i couldn't find this post before so I created a new one.
I'm using 1.2.0 Build 1146 and as many says, it is not always noticiable, probably because I listening music in background and if the songs has 5 seconds of music at the end, and is interrupted 2 seconds before it finish, it probably not going to be noted.
It's not something I'm going to change my player for, but it's something important because is the core of a music player to plays the music perfectly.

Inappropriate? Is there a way to turn off crossfade? I prefer to not have it on during shuffle. It seems like for some of my songs it just cuts them off early to go to the next song instead of fading out like it is suppose to do.

Is there a way to turn off crossfade? songs cut out early....
I’m disappointed
-
Inappropriate?if there was an option to toggle gapless playback, or set how long it waited before going to the next track that'd be great. To be fair a lot of songs are silent for the last few seconds anyway, but it's a sweeping generalization.
I’m disappointed

Inappropriate?Hi all -
As Mike M mentioned, this has been logged as bug 15710. We'd appreciate it if you could add your OS and Songbird version information to the bug; that way you'll also get updates as work is done on it.
Thanks!
