Inappropriate?I'm planning to replace my mobile, camera, gps, video camera and ipod for an Android phone in the future. But I am waiting for Android phones which support 720p video recording (the new samsungs though are certainly VERY appealing).
I'm also planning to code a flight computer for it too, so technically it would replace a $150 flight computer too (with more capabilities)..
Therse some pretty cool stuff such as: http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/23/la... . And my dream would be to do something similar for pilots.
Either way, its certainly cost effective for me to go android. I wouldn't go iPhone, because the android phones are a bit ahead technologically generally these days, and it gives me the flexibility of selecting any phone in the future!

Inappropriate?I went Android a few months back now.
And to sum it up without babbling for hours, I wont ever go back.
Sure. The hardware will get better over time, as will Android itself.
But as it is now, it surpasses everything I hoped for.
I own the Samsung i7500 Galaxy and it's wonderful.
Having everything with you all of the time is just great.
gmail, google Calendar, your contacts (from gmail), the internet with a decent (yet quite lacking) browser, gps, plenty location based services and apps, so you never get lost.
It's just awesome.
One nifty thing I never thought about was an app I found, that backs up your sms to your gmail inbox. I will never loose a message again and can look at them in gmail like I would at normal mails.
Next big plus?
3,5mm Audio Jack, that lets you plug in any headphone.
The Galaxy has 8gig's of internal memory, plus a micro sd slot (that will go up to 32gb).
Put your music on there and you can carry them around everywhere.
So. I conclude:
Phone, sms, mail, calendar, contacts, chat, gps (navigation and all), twitter, the whole web, apps, that fit every need, good looking and solid hardware.
I couldn't be happier.
I’m happy with my Galaxy

You wont ever go back? Might wanna read your first paragraph :P -
Yes, I wont ever go back to using a "dumb" phone, or feature Phone, as they call them. You know. Those normal mobiles, that persisted for years now.
I can't go back to use one of those! -
Inappropriate?I'm planning on buying an Android phone very soon! And might do dome developing, too.
Why the question? Is a Songbird Android app in the making?
I’m excited

Inappropriate?I am certainly looking into buying one within the year. Just waiting for some slightly better hardware (am keeping my eye on a sony ericsson at the mo).
A songbird app would be amazing, or even a full app store in songbird (is that even possible on android phones)
I’m happy

Inappropriate?I plan to purchase the new archos unit as soon as it is available in the US. I would love to see support from Songbird and Doubletwist for video. Thanks for your hard work!

Inappropriate? Thanks for the replies all, I'm passing this info on to our Product Manager as he was curious about this.
I’m thankful

I'm curious who is the Product Manager :) -
His name is Tim Hickman, he's new and very interested in community wants and needs so hopefully you'll see him around here. :0) -
Inappropriate?I have a G1 and love it. For me, it serves as replacement for a cell phone, iPod, and PDA. It also brings to the party much of the sexiness that you'd find in an iPhone, except not tied to iTunes or Big Brother Apple.
Small warning, the first generation hardware kinda sucks. Not fast enough, not enough space for installing apps, and the current software needs some work. If you are able, I highly recommend rooting your phone and installing something like CyanogenMod, it fixes the vast majority of problems with the Android platform and makes it awesome (though the legal future of the modding community is currently up in the air).
I’m happy, but with reservations

Inappropriate?I'm planning on going Android in the not so distant future. The Motorola Droid is looking good from Verizon. More power + Android 2.0.
