Does Songbird 1.2 properly import iTunes 9 libraries?
Apple has just released iTunes 9. Does Songbird properly import the music library from this new version? I don't want to install iTunes 9 if it will interfere with my use of Songbird!
I am particularly interested in the Mac version.

Inappropriate? It should work the same although I haven't tried it yet myself. You can always create a second profile for testing and report your findings back here!

I’m thankful

Inappropriate?Has someone tested this already?

Inappropriate?I tested it.. works just fine from what I see.. (Apple has never changed their xml library enough for it to break the importer...)

Inappropriate? It doesn't seem to be working with my playlists. I originally had my playlists in subfolders, but flattening them did not help. I can send the xml file to anyone who wants to take a look.
I’m sad

Inappropriate?sahendrickson, What exactly is going wrong with your playlists? Is it importing your library, but no playlists.. or playlists with no items in them?
-
Inappropriate? It seems to be importing the library well, yeah! (I made a symlink to stand in for my windows drive.) However it doesn't seem to import any of the playlists. My playlists are mainly the 'smart' playlists and use (1) media types to ensure that I'm not syncing videos to my resource constrained devices and (2) Boolean logic to ensure that music I don't want is excluded. Let me remove my lists and see if it works. I'll follow-up with results here.
-
Inappropriate?Well its because they are smart, Songbird doesn't import smart playlists (at least in Songbird versions greater than 1.3 -- i haven't used 1.2 in a while, sorry). You can convert them to regular playlists, or re-create the smart playlist in Songbird manually.

Inappropriate? Thanks Michael, the 'smart' playlists were the problem. For some reason it wasn't importing the regular playlists either, but I think that might have been my own doing. It's working now. :)
I’m happy
