Don't read files information
I have all my songs with the information, tags and covers added with winamp and mediamonkey, and now I change to songbird but it doesn't read that info of almost all the files. Why?
I don't want to edit all the files metadata again just for songbird.

Inappropriate?Howdy *,
I'm having a similar problem, I've imported a couple of playlists containing properly tagged FLACs and MP3s and Songbird only reads the Metadata of some of them (see the attached screenshot). I spent a lot of effort on getting the tagging right, so I really don't want to start all over again.
Not sure if it is important, but the playlists contain streaming entries from my mod_musicindex server.
Cheers,
Jakob
I’m frustrated with this.

Inappropriate?So....what about this...is this a bug or what?
This is making me not to use sb because I have to edit the metadata of too many files...
It seems that the way sb read the metadata and id3 tags is not compatible with some others players like mediamonkey or winamp

Inappropriate?I'm not sure if this is related to your problem; but I noticed something similar and determined the cause: songbird refuses to import any tags for files that are not *writable*. In my case, my music library is kept on a network share which is shared read-only (only my main computer is allowed to write). When I try to import that library on a "satellite" computer, songbird does not read ANY tag info, which makes it pretty much useless.
Why it refuses to read tags for read-only files is beyond me - this must certainly be a bug. I can understand that it would not be able to update any metadata (play count, rating, etc.), but that should be easily handled.
I would imagine this would be a semi-common problem - for folks who keep their music library on a local network and do not make it writable to all the users (which can be dangerous given that most PC software is not concurrent and would certainly not handle library updates in a sane way).
Is this a shortcoming of TagLib or songbird proper? Is there a way we can file a bug or RFE on this?
