Embedding Album Art
Hello there,
Songbird is becoming my favourite player, but there are one or two things that I would like to see.
Let me start with this: I have been using Mp3Tag to embed album art into each one of my music files, and I wonder whether this will be possible to do through the Songbird metadata editor. I did try to paste a cover to a file, and it did appear in my Library, but when I transferred the file to a music player, the cover was not there. I added it with Mp3Tag, and it worked. (Mp3Tag also adds APE tags, but I don't know if this is necessary for the art to be embedded ---isn't it part of the IDE tags?)
I think this is related to a couple of other posts regarding cover art.
Many thanks,
nygamma

as pvh says we only embed album art in mp3 files with ID3v2 tags at this time, so if your file has a different tag then album art will not be written at this time. We are working on the album art features and hope to have more support for other tags in the future.

Inappropriate?Album art is really tricky and complicated because of all the different ways there are to store and retrieve the metadata. Assuming you're using MP3s, and that your MP3 player reads the tracks out of the MP3 you should be good to go with 1.0. If not, my understanding is that dbradley and erikstaats are working on device stuff at the moment and we may have improvements out there soon.

Thank you both very much. Songbird 1.0.0 does indeed embed album art with the ID3 tag. I was using APE for some reason (I'm not sure about the difference, but ID3v2 seems to work fine). -
Inappropriate? Is there any change in this? I would love to be able to get my album art embedded in my Flac and Ogg files. It also can't seem to read already embedded album art in Flac files (not sure about Ogg files tho).

Inappropriate?im wondering if it would be possible to get songbird to update the id3 tag version information to the latest so album art and songbird can play nicely
just found this in annoyance to not having album art added to songs i just did :/ -
Inappropriate?Would updating the id3 tag version allow it to write album art to all formats?
I’m undecided
