Exporting back to iTunes?
Is it possible to export my library back to iTunes? I was able to import my library and now I made some changes. Is it possible to export my library so I can have all my updated changes in iTunes?

Hi Michael.
I have installed 1.2.0b1 but I can't see any sync functionality. Where should it be found?
Best regards and thanks to all in the Songbird team for a GREAT product,

Go To Tools > Options... (Songbird > Preferences on a Mac) > Media Importer > iTunes Import/Export... -
Hi.
I just tested it... and it worked!
I used Songbird version 1.2.0b1, iTunes 8.1.0.52 on a Windows XP SP3. I added a CD through Songbird... closed Songbird down and started iTunes. I could see iTunes adding the songs and VOILA, they were all there and I could now sync my iPhone with my Songbird playlist :-D
Let me know if you would like me to update my experience somewhere.
Gracias :-D

Awesome!! Thanks! -
If you really really liked... and want the whole community to know (especially how you used it with your iPhone) ... you can always chirp a praise! ;) -
Hi Michael,
I tried the above, but when i restarted itunes, it still doesn't have the artwork (songbird does). What did i do wrong?

Inappropriate? When is Songbird 1.2 due out?

Inappropriate?hey keith,
1.2 Beta 1 is *planned* for a day very VERY soon... if you know what i mean..
And the Final release shouldn't be more than a week or so after that... :D
If you wanna be awesome and test out the exporting features right now, they're there! And let us know if you find any bugs!

Currently, here are the outstanding bugs... -
Hi Michael. Thank you for the quick response. Since you are an official rep of Songbird, I'd like to take this opportunity to lay out my quandry, and you can comment on my possible solutions, as I am sure many people encounter the same issues I will raise here:
1) The Hard Drive on my 24in iMac decided it would die the premature death of a severely depressed individual: Suicide by strangulation. The warning signs were there; I saw a lot of spinning ball action in the days before the macabre event, but didn't recognize the problem and wasn't there for an intervention with a back up drive. All data lost.
2) The apple folks tried artificial respiration and CPR, to no avail. They said this was a job for the forensic undertakers, and that in a clean room, these high priced doctors might be able to retrieve data. But $1600 seemed extravagant.
So I installed a new hard drive, and to save time, I transferred the applications ,data, and operating system from my Mac Book laptop using a fire wire cable.
One of the applications that came over was iTunes and a large library of Argentinean Tango music. My iPod, however never synced with this iTunes (it synced with the iTunes lost on my old hard drive on my iMac).
3) The good folks at Apple whispered that i should download Songbird and use it as BRIDGE to import the library of music on my iPod, then somehow send all of this back to my new Itunes program.
4) I think this was inaccurate advice. I have been able to import my iPod library and playlists into Songbird. I now have both my iPod "Playlists" and my iTunes "library" in separate areas of Songbird.
5) NOW, I have two goals:
A) Integrate both of these music lists from separate sources back
to my Itunes library
B) Export this integrated music from two different iTunes libraries
back to my iPod (either from Songbird or the new iTunes
program).
Can you think of a way to accomplish this? Does the new version of Songbird, soon to be released allow for one, some, or all, my goals?
If these goals are accomplishable, it implies that I could take an iPod of someone else, import his library into my Songbird library, and then in one way or another get that music into my iPod, or my iTunes library.
Your comments would be most welcome.
Thanks!!!!!!!

Inappropriate?@ Keith
I can certainly help you here..
First off, that's kinda awesome that they recommended Songbird.. haha.
But they we're kinda wrong when they assumed Songbird can take music off the iPod and move it elsewhere... Songbird can't do that...
But it is possible, and here's how:
1. Get "Houdini", "Secrets", or use the terminal to locate your music on your iPod.
2. Get Senuti.
One you have your music files back... I would put them in iTunes again (especially if you bought any from iTunes - as those have to be re-authorized in order to play them)
And then go wherever you wish from there... Does that help...
I’m ...dont like paying for things... there's always a free and easy alternative ;)

How did you use/get your artwork in Songbird, by "drag and dropping" or through Songbird's "built in fetcher" (Tools > Get Album Artwork)?
Because the artwork should show up once you "select" the track in iTunes since Songbird writes artwork to the metadata of the file.
The only things I can think of is that Songbird failed to write to the file when trying to add artwork (You can test if it is there by using an external id3 tag viewer [other than SB and iTunes] or another media player such as foobar)
OR if you drag and dropped a .GIF image (In tests I found updating artwork with .png and .jpg files successfully showed up in iTunes, but .gif's did not - I guess iTunes doesnt support that format...)

Could be because the id3v2 standard says:
The "image/png" or "image/jpeg" picture format should be used when interoperability is wanted.

that sounds like a legit reason to me :)
Thanks for tracking that down Mike!
