Inappropriate?G'day,
Does fedora 10 exhibit the same behavior?
And are you using 1.1.2? -
Inappropriate?Songbird worked fine on fedora 10.... I am using 1.1.2

Inappropriate? Its worth noting though that Fedora 11 is a beta. So it could be a bug in Songbird, but seeing as songbird works in 10 fine, it could also be some kind of bug in 11. A bit hard to say where a bug report should be posted at this time...
The official Songbird reps may have a better idea. Although, just guessing, but it may be similar to the Windows Vista volume issue too.
In windows Vista, many people found that their per-application volume (the songbird setting in windows volume control manager) is set to mute for some reason. May be related, might not.. -
Inappropriate?I can hear low volume, so I doubt mute it the problem..... I did have to get libvisual to get the v. low sound working, could this cause any problems

Inappropriate?G'day Dericbytes,
Sorry for taking so long to reply. Not really sure personally..
Its worth noting that Fedora 11 is due in 4 days though, and might be worth retesting then (things might work better).
Unfortunately one issue with debugging problems in linux is that there is no standardisation :( So its always a bit difficult to identify who exactly is at fault.

Inappropriate?Have you tried installing the advanced volume control from add/remove software? F11's volume control is supposed to apply to the master out from pulseaudio, but ALSA plugins seem to bypass that; it could be the PCM volume is dialled down low and this wont show on the standard volume control. Might also help with flash players.

Inappropriate? The audio volume control in Fedora 11 is poorly designed.
Volume is actually a non-linear function. That is why PCM volume control works great.
MASTER volume control causes the volume intensity to decay too quickly, so moving from 100% down to about 75% volume, you have almost removed MOST of the volume.
PCM volume control works better because you can move from 100% down to 10~20% and still hear soft volume.
This is how volume control should work.
My guess is MASTER volume is running a straight linear volume control, which is incorrect for the way humans perceive audio intensity.
I’m frustrated
