Finding Removing Duplicates hanging - OSX, Network Area Storage
I can add tracks one by one to the media library, but if I try to add whole folders or just point it to my overall music folder, something goes wrong. The function to find and remove duplicates just keeps running, no matter how small the folder and even if there aren't any. I keep all my music on a wirelessly accessed network storage device (the Linksys NSLU2, for reference) which might be something to do with it, but really, I've got far too much music to be able to add them all individually! I couldn't find any option to turn off the removing of duplicates, which would be a nice simple solution, and it's not a function I'd regret losing - but then I couldn't find many options at all for the media player aspect of the program...

Inappropriate?I've found the same thing. And by 'removing duplicates' is songbird deleting the songs, or removing duplicates from its database?

Inappropriate?I am also experiencing this when I try to import my music files on the latest version of Ubuntu with mp3s from /dev/sdb1 mounted at /media/multimedia in folder music. I am using a clean install of the latest Songbird version. The files exist and are accessible - I can open them with VLC, Amarok, and even iTunes under Wine. If I import my iTunes library file into Songbird it works well.
Is there a workaround for this? I would love to trash iTunes.
I’m frustrated.

Inappropriate?I'm sorry everybody - I should have been more patient. During the import process, I get the dialog indicating that Songbird is searching for and removing duplicates. Since the Songbird process wasn't using any CPU time, I assumed that it was hung up. I decided to let it run anyway and it eventually completed normally.
I’m happy
