folder view
for me it's a great disadvantage that songbird only support a media library view...there's no real directory oder folder view (for instance like in foobar). :( :( :(
why is this "simple function" not implemented?
my problem in detail:
- i've many albums (for instance from an artist named "a") with one or more remixes from other artists (for instance artists named "b" and "c")
- these remixes are all tagged with the remixed artists (b or c), not the artist of the album (and that's ok so far)
- now when i play the album from artist a, the annoying "media player view" only lists the songs, that are tagged with artist a
so it's impossible to play the complete album!! :( :( :(

Inappropriate?Try out the directory browser add-on, its not update for 1.1 yet, but it should still work if you disable compatibility checking:
1) Type about:config in the URL bar.
2) Right Click anywhere, New, Boolean.
3) Name it extensions.checkCompatibility
4) Set it to false

Inappropriate?directory browser can't play songs directly! the only way to hear music is to add the songs to a playlist. this is not very useful. :(

Inappropriate?I really want that the folders view is implemented on Songbird, that's is the only reason i don't use it, and i have followed serveral versions since 0.5. Greetz

Inappropriate? An update of the directory browser add-on would be great,

Inappropriate?hi qways,
there is a update for directory browser! but in directory browser you can't doubleclick songs directly...you must fill a playlist first.
i think this is to compilcated for such a simple action.

this is one of the best points

Inappropriate?I recently discovered that smart playlists could include all songs of a certain genre, artist, album artist, album, year, composer and what have you. Now I have a playlist which contains nothing but R&B songs, one for House tracks, another for songs from the 90's etc. etc.
This is not the same as MediaMonkey's left pane and it's folder tree, but it somewhat bridges the gap until proper folder tree functionality can be implemented in Songbird. Smart playlists also have the ability to filter by 'file location' but I have yet to figure out how it works (when I include a directory as an explicit condition, the list is empty).
I’m still trying to figure it all out...

Inappropriate?I just want to comment that i have realized that the directory browser add-on is in some way forgotten or low prioritized. Remember that songbird is a music player so the user has to have all the tools to play their music (Play CD's?) & arrange their music. For Internet we have firefox, for music player i'd like to have songbird.
best regards
I’m sad because songbird is a great project but dosn't let me play my music as i want it.
