How do I force Songbird to install and avoid an error loop?

My beloved Songbird sprouted a few issues when I upgraded my system from XP to Vista (the folder shortcuts were still using the old XP directories, etc.) so I decided to reinstall Songbird on my Vista system. Problem is, the old Songbird uninstall also broke during the upgrade. So, I have stranded files and registry entries scattered around the system, and the new Songbird refuses to install. It asks me if I want to first uninstall the old Songbird, I say yes, and then it prompts me with the same error message again because, I assume, it can't find the broken uninstall path. The loop just continues until I cancel the installation process.

I have deleted the Songbird folder in Program Files, as well as the Local and Roaming "Songbird2" AppData. How do I avoid this prompt and force Songbird to install on my system? I'm having severe withdrawal symptoms. ;)
