Getting data off ipod

Hi, I've recently changed from WIndow to Ubuntu as Windows had rotted to hell. Unfortunately I lost all the data on my hard drive, including all my songs. These are all still on my ipod. Is there anyway I can load these on to Songbird? I'm hestitant to synchronize in case it deleted all songs from ipod as my Songbird library is empty!
