how about more ways to customize songbirds interface?
i dont know if you all know foobar, an impressive music player i think.
in the new version of foobar the interface is completely changed so you can modify every item displayed in the "main-interface". i mean the main songbird layout, not the browser.
now my idea, and what i would like to be added to songbird:
As in foobar there should be a "customize-mode" in which you can drag and drop and seperate the different media items and views, such as the media library (and how you want to categorize the media in it), actual playlist, the coming EQ, the playlist manager, and so on.
that would be just one solution. you could also add a menu item in the preferences to set the order of different window items.. but the "customize-mode", in which you can drag/drog add or remove items straight in the interface is just providing more clearness and simpliness to the users.
i would like this feature because you were able to adjust it completely to your personal needs.
and i think this is one of the important features that a high flying media player should have.
i just think of my behavior in changing my prefered media-software. it has to fit to my needs!
you know i actually like the layout of songbird and some layout pieces such as the right and lower one are customizable (dont know if this word exists ;)). but somehow.. since i have this great peace of software i would like to customize its layout on my own without any knowledge in skinning or programming
i actualy dont know if its really possible, but now i just wanna read your meanings and your feelings.
thanks for reading ;) greetings! DJB

Inappropriate?Hey DJB,
Thats a great idea! I'm not a one of the developers/coders so I don't know how hard it would be to do such a thing... But the possibilities are endless with Songbird...
I'm gonna add on to your idea... with one of my friends ideas... ;)
...here we go..
Since we already have add-ons for Songbird.... How about rearranging them to wherever you want them to be...
But your at a party, right? Lets say you have your main Songbird window (the basics) on your laptop screen.... And you hook up your laptop to a TV (and some sweet speakers of course) so your friends can queue up whatever they want to hear... In a different Songbird window, on the TV, you have your foobar-style mix and mash of add-ons and visualizations and such ;)

how about that?
Just throwing in an idea.. and seeing where it leads...
I’m excited
