How can I get my Rockbox on?
I'm really surprised I can't get my Rockbox-ed iPod to be recognized by Songbird.
Since Rockbox is open source and works on many different players it seems like a natural fit. I really prefer using my iPod with Rockbox rather than as an Apple iPod.
If I could use Songbird with Rockbox, heck, I might even make a Songbird WPS to go with it (wink, toot).

Inappropriate? You have to wait until there is native USB support if you are using rockbox. So that would be an option for the future which could be offfered once by songbird. The other possibility for the future could be that rockbox itself supports MTP... As far as i know there was an attempt at the google summer of code to get this working in rockbox but i dont know how it progressed. Anyway observing now the progress of rockbox and also the progress of songbird for a long time i would expect that USB support of songbird will land before MTP support lands in rockbox.

Inappropriate?I have Rockbox 3 installed on my ipod video 30GB, and when I open it in Songbird, it sees the entire iPod as being filled with "Other", so it doesn't seem like there is currently any way to use Songbird with Rockbox. Which makes me very sad! I don't understand why iTunes can sync with Rockbox but Songbird can't. Please add Rockbox support!

Inappropriate?Ditto. I want to format my ipod nano second gen to Rockbox and use Songbird; this and the inability to import multiple playlists at a time are the two major things holding me back.

Inappropriate? My 5th generation 30GB iPod Video has Rockbox and I'd love for Songbird work with it!

Inappropriate? It would be cool if someone (or many) would put this issue to the Rockbox people. This would get extra visibility on the issue. No players are designed to work with Rockbox. It's the other way around; Rockbox is designed to work with certain players. Getting them to update their library to work in Songbird would be cool.
That doesn't mean that we couldn't get this working internally. It's just that we have so many other features that we are working on that have priority over getting a "hacked" device to work. -
Inappropriate? It should still work because on my Sansa e280R the rockbox detects when the usb is plugged in and boots the original firmware, which uses MTP mode. So I don't see why it shouldn't work at least on my model.... (I am not sure how the iPods or other rockbox supported mp3 players work with usb)
-
Inappropriate?I just started using rockbox, with the bootloader, and I sync my ipod via songbird on the itunes firmware side. The one complaint I have is that songbird doesn't include my FLAC files when syncing, so I can't play them via the database in Rockbox.
Any chance songbird could work this out? I'll mention it to Rockbox too.
Thanks. -
Inappropriate?Hmmmm well... Rockbox seems to have native usb support now (or atleast for my model (Sansa e280R)) It still doesn't seem to want to work :(

Inappropriate? This could all be fixed if Songbird allowed users to set up multiple media libraries. I absolutely HATE when media players lump ALL my media in 1 library. I have a Gigabeat with Rockbox as well and the only way to get around this issue is adding all the music from my mp3 player to my library. I don't want a nag screen popping up every time I'm just listening to music on my computer when my mp3 player is not connected because it can't find the file. If Songbird devs could add multiple libraries support for Songbird, I could then add the music from my computer to 1 library, and have all my music on my Gigabeat w/ Rockbox to the other. The drive letter never changes on my computer when I plug in my Gigabeat so I don't know why something like this can't be implemented if I can just set 1 library to scan the folders on my Gigabeat. Thoughts?

Inappropriate?Someone in an earlier post said their Rockbox worked with the iPod add-on.

Inappropriate?i have the 80gig video ipod and i like keeping my media files in separate directories. The ipod addon keeps it all together in "Library". I want it to be a mass storage if possible but the USB mass storage addon does not work. If you have any suggestions that would be really great. Thanks.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate? This would be a very welcome addition to Songbird, especially on the Mac platform.
Does anyone know if an app exists to bring this functionality to Mac? Currently the best implementation of this is the Generic Media Player transfer plug-in for Amarok 1.4.. and thus I'm forced to dual boot and/or run linux in virtualization just for Amarok! -
Well this is something I found on Apple's download site a long time ago, but I don't know if it works with rockbox or not. Maybe I'll try it when I get back to my room.
