How can I make folder.jpg album art show up?
I have a FLAC library, with folder.jpg files in each directory. I cannot get the album art to show up in Songbird (running 1.1.2 on Vista x64).
I have installed the AlbumArtPreferences extension in order to force Songbird to look at the filesystem. I've subsequently verified in about:config that songbird.albumart.file.enabled is true and that folder.jpg is a filename that it's looking for.
When I run Get Album Artwork, it brings up a progress bar that indicates that it's scanning my library (it takes about 30 seconds or so), but no album art subsequently shows up in the lower left "Now Selected" box for any selected track (not even the first track).
Should this functionality work, and if so, what's my next step to try to make it work?

Inappropriate?Hey Mike!
Your're doing everything right, except the FLAC files you are working with is the problem.. Songbird doesn't support FLAC + Artwork fetching in the folder ... :( And right now, there is no way to write/read to/from FLAC files.. If you want to see album art for flac files, you can use the Album Fetcher by setting your preferences to search the web (Last.fm/Amazon) and it will store it in Songbird's database...
But Everybody wants it!!
And the Good News... its being worked on, as we speak... in Bug 16161!

Inappropriate?bug # 16161 shows as resolved and fixed?
my entire music collection is now *.flac and both folder.jpg - cover.jpg album art files in the album folders. No embedded art in *.flac files.
Latest Songbird version shows no album art. No versions after 1.0.0 seem to work.
I have changed appropriate settings in about:config
Why did this functionality work in V 1.0.0, was it an happy accident/glitch? -
Inappropriate?Bug 16161 is fixed on trunk, and is for the Jackson 5 Release.. If you want to see if it works for you/fixed you are going to need to download a 1.3.0a build from here: http://developer.songbirdnest.com/bui...
As always, back up your profile if you just want to test it out, and never "downgrade" your bird ;) -
Inappropriate?@martin
did you set your preferences via the AlbumArtPreferences add-on (Even though i believe it should be in the 1.3.0a builds: Bug 16659 ) to see your artwork in the folder... and the names of the artwork files and such... -
Inappropriate? Thanks Michael, I tried to install the AlbumArtPreferences and of course it is included already so was confusing me as was grayed out.
Have now set it to pull images from album folders and SongBird is accessing the images.
It was not selected/ticked by default.
I am getting some slowing, lock ups and errors re MediaFlow though; mostly seems to lock up when accessing certain images? I will make a separate post on this subject if it is best when I have duplicated it enough.
Should I update my SongBird occasionally from Trunk then?
But it is such a relief, Thanks!
-
Inappropriate?Awesome! Good News! Ummm, if its working for you know, I would probably stick with that build for a while.. Updating on trunk a lot might eventually fry your profile.. So maybe occasionally, but not too often...
-
Inappropriate?Oh well.
It ground to a halt trying to load images after the first restart of Songbird and upon re building the library from my music folder no images again. Guess MediaFlow isn't compatible with this build fully.
I'll stick with 1.0.0 for the meantime.
Thanks for your suggestions anyway. -
Inappropriate?Migrated to MediaMonkey, everything works for me now. I can access the whole Flac library with cover image files in same folder. Meta data editing is very powerful.
I tried to like the Bird, I'll check back again and try over.

Inappropriate? Also have this problem on Ubuntu 64bit. Using version 1.2 and tried the 1.3 but no luck with folder.jpg (or any other name) in the same folder as the music.
-
did you try setting the AlbumArt Preferences in the main options menu in 1.3 to search in your folders for artwork, it is off by default... -
Inappropriate?I did, no luck. Tried playing around with the settings but no cover art for my flac files (my mp3's are fine though)
