How do I remove iPod tracks from my library without deleting them from my iPod?

Obviously, some songs from my music library on my computer are also on my iPod nano. Unfortunately, the songs are duplicated while I'm browsing music, showing one copy from my computer and one from my iPod. Is there a way to remove them from the playlist without deleting them from either device? Thanks!
