How to bookmark a radio MP3 stream?
I frequently listen to the radio station Triple J (http://abc.net.au/streaming/triplej/t...), how can I add it Songbird?
I can browse to the Triple J site and click the m3u stream link to start listening to it, but If I add the URL to a Songbird folder and click it, it first prompts which program to open it with, and if I select Songbird it then saves the files instead of playing it.

This is fixed in the latest SHOUTcast add-on update... to bookmark a station, click on the Servicepane node for SHOUTcast Radio and then click the heart icon at the top right of the directory. This should prompt you to enter a stream URL. It will then save the station into the Favourite Stations list with your other favourite'd SHOUTcast streams.

Inappropriate? When you select Songbird to open the file it should make you a playlist in the Playlists folder called triplej. When you want to listen to the stream, open the playlist and play the triplej track in it.
-
Inappropriate? That appears to be a saved-copy/recording of the stream, not the live stream.

Inappropriate?Hmm, I'm not sure what else you can try. I've gone ahead and filed a feature suggestion for bookmarking radio streams.
You can track the comments on this work item by:
1. Going to the "people" box in the upper right hand corner of the feature suggestion
2. Add your email in the "add cc" box
3. Scroll down and hit commit.

Inappropriate? It seems to have been some sort of glitch. Even when I went back to the webpage and started the stream Songbird would play the downloaded copy instead. I deleted the MP3 from my collection, removed the playlist, removed the bookmark and I still couldn't get the live stream. I restarted the Songbird and it started working properly again.
But now I've restarted and am listening to the stream, the stream has been automatically added to the playlist as you suggested it might (I may have put it there myself previously, whilst trying to get a working bookmark). -
Inappropriate?Interesting, this is definitely a feature that needs work. Thanks for the feedback, this is good stuff for the product design team.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?Sorry, I said, "has been automatically added" when I meant to say "has NOT been automatically added".

Inappropriate?Gotcha. Thanks for following up.

I would have thought that the ability to stream audio from an internet radio station's URL should be available under thge "Radio" folder. I can certainly get stations to open (File, open URL) and play live, but this creates an entry under the Playlist folder, not under Radio. The entry shows the song details for whatever track was playing at the time, and does not update the track details. I think the question of radio stations and track display needs some work. I like Songbird very much (having discovered it only yesterday), and appreciate that it will take a while to get additional features and bugs sorted out. Wish I had the know-how to help! -
