Inappropriate?Hi dunworth,
Sorry for the delay in responding to your question. Currently, opening the file directly from your computer does exactly what you described--the program starts but then you have to find the song in the library. We are currently working to make it function in the more intuitive fashion you suggested. To track the comments on this work item:
1. Go to the "people" box in the upper right hand corner of bug #13895;
2. Add your email in the "add cc" box;
3. Scroll down and hit commit.
If you don't have a free bugzilla account, signing up is quick and easy and will allow you to share your feedback directly with the development team. -
Inappropriate?I had to go back to iTunes on Mac. I'ts my second time I try Songbird, I really need an alternative to iTunes, which will support flac, ogg etc..
I’m confused
-
Inappropriate? And in addition, like i said in my topic, if you want to play files with Songbird, we can associate files with the software and an extra idea is to have icons for files associated with Songbird.
-
Inappropriate?@Steven Caldwell
But even if you associate them with Songbird they don't play straight away. That's why we created this topic I think.
I’m amused
-
Inappropriate?@dunworth
And it's kinda crushes all the time + not all the plugins work.
Anyway I meant that I need a stable alternative to iTunes -
Inappropriate? It will be working in the next release ;-) Stay tuned!

Inappropriate?Seems to work with Songbird 1.1.1, although the feature (open an audio file with Songbird) is not easily discoverable.
Also, there is no "open folder with..." in Windows, so the feature is still useless for playing full albums. :/
I think full Windows Explorer integration is needed. That would be just:
Right click in a folder or file and select a new menu item: "Play in Songbird"
I've opened a more general post about the integration here:
http://getsatisfaction.com/songbird/t...
I’m undecided
-
Inappropriate?I think I've got a problem here, you say that this is solved in 1.1.1 dregio. ATM I'm already using 1.1.2 but it still doesn't work. I get a message which say that Songbird is an unknown win32-application.... and it just does nothing
Any help would be gravely appreciated, Surfer.
I’m sad & frustrated

Inappropriate?Using v1.2.0, I have this set up so that it plays an MP3 when I double-click it in Windows Explorer, but I had to do this manually (by creating an action whose target is "C:\Program Files\Songbird\songbird.exe" "%1", including both sets of quotes). Songbird now plays the correct file from my library.
Unfortunately, after that one song, it now CONTINUES playing through my library in alphabetical order, starting from the one after I just played! Come on, this is crazy. I wish I had the technical expertise to do something with the software myself.
I’m ambivalent about progress made with this issue
-
Inappropriate? No, still no luck. If you select multiple files and right click and select 'Open with Songbird' - it will load only 2 files, but not all selected. Shame that it takes ages to implement this. In my opinion, developers should focus on this kind of bugs, not plugins or 'features', because otherwise a lot of people won't even start using Songbird. Shame...
I’m very dissapointed
-
Inappropriate?i really can't understand how you ignore this basic feature!
you implement lots of plugins but file association is still missing.
sorry but this is ridiculous! this is my second time try with songbird and
disappointment again..
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Hi Zovar and rebelboy -
Could you please let me know what OS and version of Songbird you're using? And could you please provide a detailed set of instructions to reproduce this issue? I haven't seen it on either the Windows or Mac machines that I'm using here in the nest, but perhaps only because I'm not doing exactly the same thing.
