Inappropriate? You need to install the iPod Device Support Add-On. From the Songbird Tools menu choose Add-Ons. Click on the Get Extensions link and search for "iPod Device Support". Now click on the Install Button next to the add-on and choose Install Now. You will have to restart Songbird before you can use the add-on. After you restart Songbird, your ipod will appear (once plugged in) in the Library Pane. Click on the ipod to configure the sync settings.

Inappropriate?I've installed the iPod Device Support Add-On when I installed Songbird. My ipod is plugged in and doesn't appear. Now what?
I’m undecided

Inappropriate?Sorry folks, I am a songbird noobie too. This worked fine for me.

Inappropriate?I Dont Know Why It Didnt Work For Yall,
But It Worked Fine For Me.

Inappropriate? So far, so good. The only problem I'm having now is that it's taking SB a REALLY long time to mount my ipod.
I’m blah.

Inappropriate?Synchronising an Ipod is a Sisyfos job, every once in a while it all goes wrong. For me I used Winamp and all my songs changed name to Cry Cry Cry by Johnny Cash. That was funny but annoying. Now, having synchronised several times wth Songbird, all the songs have vanished from the Ipod...they still take up the space, but cant be found! Hurray for Ipods!

Inappropriate? There is something inherently wrong about the installation of the ipod to songbird synch. I have a desktop and 2 laptops. It worked on ONLY 1 laptop while didnt work on another, and also not for my desktop. I'm updated with XP for all my terminals and cant figure out what is the problem.
I’m confused

Hi Laura
What do you mean? When I visited your link, I found this message:
iPod Device Support
Important Note: The iPod Device Support add-on is no longer supported and maintained(tested) by Songbird. You can read more about it on the blog.
SO, does Songbird support Ipod or not? I hope it does, think it would be a big mistake to leave all IPod users to their fate...or to the competition, even though Ipods suck in their own way....
best regards

Inappropriate? The file is downloaded as an xpi file, what program do I need to open this with? I'm using a refurbished pc running XP so I may be missing an essential program
I’m confused

G'day, simply open the addons bookmark on the sidebar, and lookup ipod. You'll find the extension ;)
Hope that helps -

Inappropriate?The add-on no longer works.
At first you'll follow the instructions ppl have to go to the add-ons page and simply click install. However, the install button no longer works.
You may wish to bypass this by download the .xpi file yourself (like I did) and manually try install. You will be given a error that the add-on is no longer support by Songbird.
I don't know if there is an alternative to ipod support on songbird. Until then, it would seem Rhthymbox is the only way to jack in your pod.
I’m sad
