How to uninstall Songbird 1.3b?
I unfortunately did not install the MSC Device Support Plugin with the 1.3 beta.
Now I would be grateful if anyone knew how to download it, cause i can't find it at songbirdnest.com.
Another possibility would be to reinstall songbird 1.3 beta, but how???

I'm on Windows 7 RC x64 and had the same issue. I deleted the following:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Songbird
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Songbird.ManageVolumeDevice
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\Songbird.exe
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ShimInclusionList\Songbird.exe
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Songbird
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-2725598530-1280318085-3174507063-1000\Software\Classes\songbird
Wouldn't install until I had deleted the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Songbird key. Now seems to be running 1.4b2 happily.
I’m pleased that a solution has been found

Just a bit more info using klint's way. You have to
1) Wipe the songbird directory
2) Go to Regedit.
3) Delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Songbird specifically.
I’m happy klint saved me from probing through my registry for a long time.

Inappropriate? Thanks, i found the msc plug in!
but i did not find out how to uninstall my songbird, cause their seems to be no uninstaller in the songbird-folder...
Or i unlearned to read...
I also tried it with the system control in windows, but when i clicked "remove" the songbird-entry disappeared, Songbird still was installed...
Anyway, the plugin is installed, my problem is solved
I’m silly
-
Inappropriate?Actually, there seem to be an issue with the installation/uninstallation of Songbird 1.3b1, at least if you have used nightlies before.
I had the problem on 2 different computers running XP: SB 1.3b1 won't install, as it detects another version already there (which is true) but is unable to uninstall it automatically... Doing it manually does not solve anything either.
The only trick I have found is to remove the Songbird entry in the LOCALE_MACHINE branch of the windows registry.
Has anybody else met the same problem?

For my previous problem, bug http://bugzilla.songbirdnest.com/show... which is fixed by now. -
You aren't alone klint.. Only discovered that today..
I thought it was a bug with 1195, but after more looking, probably a bug with 1190. A bug nevertheless though..
Using your advice now ;) -

Inappropriate?I have windows vista 64bit and the method of regedit doesn't work.
please help me -
Inappropriate?Like Luca, the regedit fix didn't work. I had to search and delete all keys with the word "songbird" in it. I'm running Windows 7 RC x64.
I’m thankful
-
Inappropriate?Egh.. Sounds like X64 stores it somewhere else. Whilst I do have Vista x64, I downgraded to 32bit again, so I don't have a computer to test it with. Would be good if someone with X64 could work out the exact location though

Inappropriate?I had a problem with songbird syncing files to my sony walkman, so I wanted to try to install the newest nightly build. After finding out, that it didn't solve my problem, I wanted to use the current (1.2.0) version again (some addons where not compatible and stuff...).
So I uninstalled the nightly and started the 1.2.0 installer. Unfortunately, everytime I do so, I get caught in an endless loop of "Do you want do uninstall the older version of songbird?". I tried to re-install the nightly version, but that installer gives me the same treatment. I already deleted my profile and hunted down the registry for every "songbird"-like key there was. But SOMEHOW, the installer always finds an existing installation lol... I'm on Win7 RCx64 here.
Hope someone can help me, thx

G'day.. Topics have been merged, so I guess you simply now only need to look at the rest of this thread for a solution ;) -
Inappropriate?Yesterday Songbird wouldn't start. But it was showing in the Task-manager. Strangely enough, it always had CPU 50% (all the time, not like the usualy 2-5%)and I waited for an hour without doing anything. Stil, nothing happened. Then I tried to install another version (I had 1.3) and even uninstalled Songbird manually.
"An older version of Songbird is installed; only one version of Songbird my be instaled at a time. Do you wish to uninstall it and install Songbird x.x.x?"
I kept klicking "Ja" (yes) and the same message keeps on appearing. I thoughtmy PC is pranking a little joke on me, but usually this doesn't happen, when I wait another day. Why doesn't it get installed? :(
I really hope you can help me... until then, I think I have to listen my music on iTunes... -__-"
Thanks a lot in advance.
