I cannot import my Windows iTunes library to Ubuntu Songbird...
I have a serious problem with iTunes import.
My C drive is a NTFS Windows XP partition and I am using with iTunes 8.1.1. My D drive is an EXT4 partition and I am using Ubuntu 9.04 with Songbird 1.1.2. And also I have an external 500GB F drive which is a FAT32 partition, all my music archive (including the music of iTunes) in it and connected to the PC with FireWire 400.
The problem is that when I try to import the Windows iTunes library to the Ubuntu Songbird, it imports till %99 and there is an error occur:
And also when I try to play a song the same problem repeats and says; "source cannot be found"
I copied the iTunes XML folder to the Ubuntu partition and selected it, the result is the same:
In Windows, the location of my iTunes library seem like that:
C:\Documents and Settings\Rıfat\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music Library.xml
In Ubuntu, the location of my iTunes library seem like that:
/media/disk/Documents and Settings/User/My Documents/My Music/iTunes/iTunes Music Library.xml
I read most of the topic which are related to iTunes problems and none of the methods worked. Is there any way to import my Windows iTunes library to Ubuntu Songbird. (my musics are in the external drive as I said before)
Thanks...

Inappropriate? This has to do with the way iTunes stores it's library. It uses and XML file that lists the files in the library using windows notation:
(Drive letter):\what\ever\path\
Ubuntu user linux notation:
/what/ever/path/
As far as I understand Songbird simply reads the XML file and imports the music into the Songbird database. The problem arises when songbird on Ubuntu reads a windows path and tries to look up that file as a linux path. Your best bet, as far as I can tell, would be to add the external hard drive to the watch folder in songbird and let songbird do the importing work. -
Inappropriate?I also wrote a How To a while ago...

Inappropriate?FIXED!!!... :-)
First I tried the method of Michael Purses. Then I also changed the beginning of the songs location in iTunes Music Library.xml by using gedit.
For example:
file://localhost/F:/...
becomes
file://localhost/media/f/...
I could import my iTunes library with the play counts...
Thank you... :-)
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?Yesss very welll. I had the same problem but whit music files allocated in a windows partitio. Do:
tools-preferences-Media importer (importador de medios)
then we write the linux path to folder. the windows disk are in linux folder call "media" for me the disk partition name is Personal so i have:
/media/Personal/Entretenimiento/Musica
( y le escribimos la direccion donde tenemos la musica pero en el formato de linux en mi caso seria /media/Personal/Entretenimiento/Musica)
