Idea: Minimize songbird to system try
There needs to be a way to minimize songbird to the system try in linux or any os. I dont think this should be a plug in but something that comes standard.

Inappropriate?Nope! System trays are for system tasks, that dont need user-input and consequently have no user-interface. Songbird is a complete opposit of this.
A plugin is ok, but as build-in functionality this feature is not appropriate.1 Comment

uhm, everything is my system try uses input (maybe Im calling it the by the wrong name) its were pidgin, and utorrent go when minimized. Also the time, network icon, and sound control lets you interface with it....
so how is Songbird is the complete opposite of this? -

This is something that the developers are considering for a future release. In the meantime, I would suggest using the FireTray Add-on .

Inappropriate?I'd maybe suggest a menu bar icon for OS X. Alternatively, a menu bar item with forward/back/play/pause controls would be amazing - but would probably be more of an add-on project.

Inappropriate?minimizing into systray is essential in my eyes. Songbird is nice to use and wonderful to see how everything fits - except the missing systray minimization. I (and I think most users) don't just hear music use the ui all the time - I hear music and write emails, surf the web, work... I don't want the hole UI to appear just for switching to another song. Just a small right-click on the systray to change the songs would be great! the addon doesn't seem to be maintained anymore...
the miniplayer-mode is nothing I want to have on top all the time, it's annoying while switching windows while working...
