Importing a Playlist add Songs to library even if they exist ...
Hi,
if I import a playlist from another Songbird into my Songbird (and only the playlist, no other files), the songs from the playlist occur twice in my library. All files that are in the playlist are still in my library and in my file system. I only want to add a playlist as a special composition of files.
Why are the songs added nonetheless to my library? This is very annoying!
Thus, for what is there an export/import function for playlists in Songbird, when I even not transfer some playlists from one Songbird to another????

Inappropriate?Expected Behavior:
The expected behavior when importing a playlist (m3u or pls) from any source would be (for each file in the list) to check if the file pointed to is already in the library and, if it is, to use the existing instance of that file rather than import a new instance of the same file.

Inappropriate? It looks like this has been a long-standing problem. In this similar topic an employee replied that they know of the problem and are trying to fix it. But that was about a year ago. Is there anything actually being done to resolve this issue at all? I found a lot of similar problem topics, but somehow this issue doesn't seem to be a priority at all.
I just reinstalled my OS and am trying to restore Songbird (including my playlists) back to how they were from my music library and playlists backup. But i'm tempted to just recreate each of my massive playlists from scratch, since it would be just as annoying and pointless to import them all, then go through and delete all the duplicates, careful not to delete the ones that are in the playlists... I agree completely with Amitola85, except that it should also ignore the case of the file paths, since there seems to be some issues with reliable file path text cases, at least in my SB (SB v.1.2.0, Win XP Pro SP3).
