Is there a manual tweak to change output audio device?
Is there any way for me to manually change the output audio device? (e.g. in mplayer I can "ao = alsa:device=hw=1.0"). I'm using Gentoo on x86.
I think adding such support to the application (or through a plugin) should at least be considered - but right now I just want to be able to get it to work - even if it means a manual hack. Even if it's complicated - I just want it to work!
If this hasn't been explored, can someone at least shed light on the sound infrastructure Songbird now uses? I've seen reference to GStreamer, PulseAudio, and ALSA...

Inappropriate? You should be able to configure it using gstreamer-properties on linux.

Inappropriate?I do not have the utility gstreamer-properties...
I saw reference to "Songbird uses the default output plugin specified in your Gnome desktop configuration. To change this configuration, run the application "gstreamer-properties". If this application is not installed, you can edit the configuration manually by editing the "~/.gconf/system/gstreamer/0.10/default/%gconf.xml" file."
But I am not using Gnome - I'm using XFCE, and ~/.gconf/system/ does not exist :-(
Any suggestions? Where does Songbird determine which audio device to output to? -
Inappropriate?By the way, I'm trying to change audio output from using the default sound card to using a secondary soundcard - so changing the output plugin isn't really what I need. Perhaps I need to somehow configure the output plugin (gst-plugins-alsa?)?

Inappropriate?Hi Tyler,
Were you able to find a solution for your problem? I have a laptop in a docking station and the sound won't come out of the docking station port when using Songbird. What's weird is using gstreamer from the command line sound comes out of the laptop audio port as well as the docking station which is what I would expect.
Thanks
