Inappropriate?afaik, unfortunately there is no portable version yet. (I'm a big fan of portables, too)
I don't think the Songbird Crew has any plans to make a portable version, so we probably have to wait for a third-party developer to make this happen.
On portableapps.com they are already trying to make the bird portable (it seems to be not that easy):

Currently there only seems to be a development release for Songbird 1.0, but the developer says he wants to work on an update for the newest version. Maybe you want to follow that thread:
