Is there really a POTI-Phillips Deal ?
Earlier today I was browsing TechCrunch and came across this article about POTI (http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/09/08/...) which says that there might be a deal with Philips to provide with their mp3 players. And I was wondering if this speculation was true. I'm rather surprised that the general community hadn't been notified about this because if it's true it would be a great boost for songbird, having the backing from a hardware maker.

Inappropriate?I wouldn't know anything about this, but certainly eager to find out too (I'm only community too, and we don't get told anything either).. Certainly haven't seen anything in regards to Philips in the Kanye test plans. But I'll keep you posted if I hear anything, or find out (or pull apart) the ACME9000 extension that mysteriously keeps showing up in the changelog's.
I’m curious

Inappropriate?Very interesting article, that may also shed some light on recent decisions related to product/feature strategy.
I'm reading good news in it.
I’m optimistic
-
Inappropriate?I guess it could easily be true. If you read the SteveL interview mentioned in this weeks Birdbath then it would seem these partnerships are exactly what they are trying to achieve.
Not sure whether you will get a definite answer as it could be top secret... :-)
I’m amused

Inappropriate? Also if you look at Add-ons you can notice a Philips Search add-on as an hidden add-on !
-
Inappropriate? On the firmware update page it has "We will need some of the new devices from the manufacturer. At least 2 but ideally 4."
It would defiantly explain why they are fixing MTP support and adding CD support this time round.
I’m happy
