itunes export
When i heard of the new feature to export your Songbird library into iTunes in the 1.2 version . I thought it would be a great idea to give it a try. So i installed the 1.2b2 version of Songbird and configured the media importer to export the library to my iTunes library by selecting my iTunes library file and checking the export box.
When i close Songbird i see a quick flash of what i think is the export progressbar. But when I open iTunes again nothing has changed. Does anyone have any idea what could be the problem?
Further details:
Songbird version: 1.2b2
Windows XP Pro SP3
iTunes 8.2.0.23
Thanks in advance!

Inappropriate? When you shutdown Songbird, it "publishes" the changes that occurred while it's running. That's the flash you see. It also launches a process called songbirditunesagent. This process looks for a file called songbird_export.task. This file should be in your C:\Users\[Your user name here]\AppData\Roaming\Songbird2 directory. When iTunes starts it communicates with iTunes and updates it using this file.
So here's some things to check.
1. When you shutdown Songbird. If you go to Task Manager, and under the "Processes" tab do you see the songbirditunesagent.exe listed?
2. If you see the process listed, then statup iTunes. The process should end and be removed from the "Processes" tab in Task Manager.
3. Now, if something bad happened on either of those two steps you may have a itunesexporterrors.txt file in the C:\Users\[Your user name here]\AppData\Roaming\Songbird2 directory. If that file exists, please post it's contents. That might give us some clues as to what is failing. -
Inappropriate?Hi dbradley,
Thanks for your quick reply.
When I look in the folder Songbird2 in my AppData I see five songbird_export.task files listed. One named songbird_export.task and the other ones songbird_export.task1 up to songbird_export.task4.
In answer to your questions:
1. When I close Songbird the process appears in my process list. Using about 2k of memory and no cpu
2. When I start iTunes the process disappears but nothing happens.
3. The file is pressent, with one line of content: "ERROR: Failed to initialize the library source object."
I think this indicates that the process can't find the Songbird library, but when I start Songbird it has no problem reading from or writing to the library.
Somewhere on getsatisfaction I read that someone had it working without problems on 1.2b1. Maybe something changed in the meantime?
I hope this information can help you

Inappropriate?I'm also having issues with the iTunes export... I don't see any 'songbirditunesagent.exe' in my processes tab, and no .task files to be found... what else should I try?

Inappropriate?Same problem, can't find an itunesexporterrors.txt in my AppData\Roaming\Songbird2 folder (or deeper).
For giggles I ran the songbirdupdateagent.exe file in my Songbird installation folder, and it seems to exit immediately -- it doesn't appear in my process list.
Windows 7 x64 (not the most ideal platform to develop against)
