Large Music Library Support crashes Songbird
I have just installed Songbirg on Win Vista 32 bit after doing a test installation on a XP-machine (which worked fine with a small library) and discovered that Songbird cannot handle my mp3 data which is about 160 GB. Songbird freezes after typing in the first character in the search window. Sorry, but I thought Songbird could handle this. Ever tried to compare it with Music Match Juke Box? That search engine was real mighty and didn't stumble

Inappropriate?I seem to be having the same problem.... I am using a linux machine. My song collection is around 90 GB. Although It doesnt crash it sure take a long long time to search (almost 3-4mins) for the results to turn up...
Very very frustating
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Same here with 59k songs... I like SB over all, but the crashes are killing me =(
I’m extremly frustrated

Inappropriate? It may not be crashing - just taking a long time. I've tried searching on a library with nearly 70,000 songs. It took a while but eventually it finished.
-
Inappropriate?I've the same problem. When I started songbird the library will be actually for nearly 1 hour. I've 25.000 songs with a lot of informations into ID3tag 2. That's to much for songbird.
I’m very frustrated

Inappropriate?I have a question: when typing a search query, is it initiating a new search each time a new character is typed in the search field? I'd image it would be more efficient to wait a moment to ensure the user has finished typing their search query before initiating a search or have a button the user must click first.

If my above comment is true, then it may be quicker to paste a search term into the field. You will of course have to find a different field to type in your search field and copy from first.
This occurred to me when I quite naturally used the in-line track editing feature to copy the name of the artist currently playing track and paste it into the search field. The search did seem to complete at lost faster than normal! -
Inappropriate?Just reporting in to say that the slow search (sometimes up to a minute) is the most annoying bug in songbird. It mostly happens for a long search term I guess, as normally it responds pretty snappy. I've got 9k in songs (43GB), which I think shouldn't be too much for a music library app to handle. Using Ubuntu.

Inappropriate? Why does songbird load all these things??? I mean with 43BG of music it would be best to load every upcoming 5 songs in your playlist, won't it? And for the searching part, after every symbol you type it runs a search. For example a search for: Old and Wise, would result in 10 searches! If SB just waits until you hit enter it would be a lot faster. But on the other hand, with a library of around 90GB of music, DON'T be surprised that it takes a little while.
I’m wondering

I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?I've just installed the version 1.1.2 and now sb searches much faster on my library (about 90GB). You should only search, if your library displayed completely, that is there shouldn't be any search term before. If not, the search is slow again (but better than before, I think).
I guess, its because sb wants to display all the songs in your library before it performs the query and that's the reason for the wait time, not the search itself.

Inappropriate?Hi all -
This is an issue that we are well aware of, and have been tracking in bug 11831. We'd appreciate it if you'd add your system and Songbird info to the bug, and you'll be notified as work is done. ^_^
Thanks!
