library importation problem
Hi. I'm having a problem importing my library since installing 0.6 earlier today. This is what's happening:
I hit "import a library" and it imports my mp3 files fine, but not any other format (mostly ogg and wma).
I hit "scan for media" and it starts scanning within my music file and then goes on to scan iChat and will just stay there for hours if I let it. When I eventually hit cancel, it hasn't imported anything.

Inappropriate?penny, thanks for the feedback, I need a little more information to get an idea of what might be wrong. What platform are you on? Did you install Songbird 0.6 or did you upgrade?
It sounds like your library import problem is a bug. Do the files not get added to your library, or do they get added with no metadata?
The scan for media issue sounds like something I had seen during the RC's but was fixed in our 0.6 final release. When you run the media scan, are there media items in the iChat folder? -
Koshi, I'm hoping you can help. I recently downloaded Songbird and although my music is in my library, it appears none of my ratings/playlists are. I've imported my library, but it gets hung up on 99% and just sits. I've let it sit for more than 15 hours at a time, but nothing. I only have 20000 songs and just a few playlists. Any thoughts??
Oh, I'm running a Windows XP computer with Opera as my default browser if that matters. -
Inappropriate?I'm running 10.5 for Mac and upgraded from the prior version of Songbird (I got the machine about a week ago).
It's not that the files are getting added with no metadata, it's that they're not getting imported at all. I am having problems with metadata, but this is just a straight "hey, I know I have more music than this, why can't Songbird find it?" issue.
There are no media items that I know of in the iChat folder. I've also been telling Songbird to scan only the music folder, and iChat is not in that folder. -
Inappropriate?penny, While we haven't consistently had issues in the upgrade process, I do know that we made significant changes to the database schema which might cause some unusual behavior in Songbird. Try clearing your profile. In your user folder, in Library/Application Support/, delete the Songbird2 folder. This will delete your old library and any add-ons you had installed. Please give this a try and let me know if you continue to experience problems.

Inappropriate?Okay, I deleted the file. Import library still isn't picking up ogg or wma files. Scan is now hanging within the music file instead of in iChat, but it's still not importing anything.

Inappropriate? It's hanging using the iTunes importer?
-
Inappropriate? No, it's only hanging when I hit "scan for media". It just doesn't find things with the iTunes importer.

Inappropriate?penny, thank you for the follow ups. We've got another thread for media scan hangs and a bug open for it. You can follow the progress of that bug by adding your email to the cc: field and clicking the commit button further down the page.
We are also currently working on a fix and are going to try to put out a 0.6.1 to address this issue. If you'd like to try a nightly, there are reports that this has been fixed in the 0.7pre nightly build.

Inappropriate?I don't mean to change the topic at all, as penny's issue is much more troublesome than mine, but I was endeavoring to see if anyone else noticed a music import problem similar to mine, and this sounded like the right thread for the query. I installed Songbird for the first time on my computer (Version 0.6), and I added my .mp3 files to the library manually (quite fast, btw). However, the times/durations for all songs is incorrect. Some songs have no duration at all, and then, almost randomly, songs begin counting up in 3-10 second intervals from 0:01 until I run out of songs (35:25). I wondered if anyone else noticed this before (I couldn't find any instance in my searches), and if so, whether or not they resolved the issue. Thanks.
BTW, kudos on a great piece of software. I'm still exploring many of the features, but it looks pretty slick, for starters.

Inappropriate?shogun_6, thanks for your feedback. It sounds like your problem is related to bug 10099. I've added your comments there. You can follow the progress of this bug by adding your email to the cc: field on the bug and clicking the commit button further down the page.

Inappropriate?I am importing files from my Windows 2003 server share and Songbird can get files with MP3 extensions but not with WMA extensions.
SMB path: \\server\directory\directory\directory\file.wma
Open URL location indicates: file:///server/folder/folder/folder/file.wma
I think there is too many " / " in your path.
