M4P playback silent with Quicktime addon
Having issues with M4P files. I have installed the Quicktime Playback addon (and re-installed it) and they still don't work.
I'm using Songbird 1.0.0 (Build 860) on Vista SP1. The song itself will play and the time will increase, but I hear no music. All other files work fine.

Inappropriate? Can you successfully import and play back the exact same tracks through iTunes on this machine?
-
Inappropriate?Yes, they worked fine before I tested out Songbird. I just tried one again in iTunes and it works fine now, too.
-
Inappropriate?I have the same issue in Songbird. Itunes plays the files fine, but songbird says they are playing, but plays them silent. I am on vista if that makes a difference.
-
Inappropriate? If it helps, I also used Songbird 1.0.0 at work on a XP SP2 box and my iTunes songs played fine there. Never have been able to get them to work at home on the Vista machine.

Inappropriate? This is starting to randomly happen on my XP SP2 PC now. I get the error above, yet the song plays fine. If I hit "Continue" and then go back to that song, it plays fine.

Inappropriate?Same issue - apple protected songs that I've purchased get hooked thorugh iTunes correctly but they just play blank - aka no sound.
Using Vista 64 + iTunes 64
EDIT: also, I have The Fireman's new album in unprotected Apple Lossless, which plays fine in Songbird.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate? You'll get the error saying "The stream is encrypted and encryption is not supported" if you've uninstalled or disabled the Quicktime Playback add-on. Also happens if you run in safe-mode (because it disables all add-ons).
But yeah, I have a the same problem too. Yesterday my iTunes songs in songbird played fine. Now it says they're playing back, but I get no sound. They play fine in iTunes.
I’m confused

Inappropriate? My OS is Win Server 2008 (32 bit) and I was having the same issue. I downloaded and reinstalled Quicktime from the Apple website and things seem to be working now.
Be sure to have both Quicktime and the Songbird plugin installed. If it still isn't working, try re-installing each. This may be an order of install thing.
I’m indifferent

Inappropriate?I followed sheribierman's suggestion, and got everything working on two different machines; my laptop running Vista Home Premium and my computer at work running Vista Enterprise.
I downloaded the latest Quicktime from Apple's website, then I did the following:
I made sure the machines were authorized via my iTunes account.
Then I uninstalled iTunes. I left all of the music and folders in place.
Then I uninstalled Quicktime, and all the other Apple crap (Bonjour, etc) that gets installed by default.
I ran CCcleaner to clean out any registry entries that were left.
Then, I installed the version of Quicktime that I downloaded from Apple.
I rebooted, and started Songbird. I selected an M4P file that I had purchased from the iTunes store, and it played without a hitch!
I’m happy!
