Malicious software inside Songbird?
Spyware Doctor recognize a problem when Songbird starts. The alerts regards heurengine.packed.cpex and Spyware Doctor blocks it.
Can You give some explanation? Is Spyware Doctor in mistake or there is a malicious software inside Yours?
Thanks and regards.

Inappropriate?I haven't seen this issue. Scanned the exe with Avast and Malwarebytes Anti Malware. Nothing. Also scanned all the installation and profile folders, all is just fine.
I am surprised that nobody ha responded to this in 4+ hours, though. -
Inappropriate?G'day G,
Sorry for taking so long to respond. Its probably been a bit quiet because its a weekend there, and they are all celebrating stevo's arrival (and the following hangover). Whilst I have never used spydoctor, however, I'll explain what its picking up:
1) Firstly, the way its detected suggests its picked up by Heuristics. Heuristics is used to detect potential viruses within packages using magic tricks. Its not 100% reliable, and simply works by looking up things that would commonly be used by trojans/viruses. However, it can be corrrect too..
2) Secondly, it sounds like its heuristics engine is simply picking it up as packed software. Packed software generally refers to software which appears to be 1 file, but when clicked turns into many. Trojan writers use it to attach a virus to legitimate files, and then redistribute the files to people who think they are real. A huge amount of spam networks probably use packers trick people and spread.

If you got the installation file from getsongbird/songbirdnest directly, its likely a false warning. The installation file SHOULD be 13.0MB (13,682,676 bytes size). If its bigger, then you should probably redownload (because it means someone dodgy may have attached a "special file" to it).
There should be no viruses or spyware though. The Songbird team seems like one of the most honest/friendly coding teams around (and unlike companies like Apple, you actually get REAL responses). Just confirm the filesize of the installer, but you should be fine. In many alternate realities, POTI probably creates world peace ;)
