metadata
Why won't Songbird let me edit the metadata on any of my files? I use Windows XP and when I go into medadata editor it says "Metadata cannot be edited for this file."

Inappropriate? Some common reasons you might see the message you reported:
1) if the user you are logged in as on your machine doesn't have Write permissions to the file(s) you are trying to edit with the Metadata Editor.
2) if Songbird cannot find the file(s).
3) if the file(s) you are trying to edit is hosted on the internet
If you track down one of the files on your desktop that's giving you this message you might check it's Properties and determine that you have "Write" permission.
If you're not already familiar, you can learn more about how to access a files Properties and see/edit file permissions.

Inappropriate? This doesn't answer the question. The first thing I checked was permissions, and both user and administrator have all permissions for my music files. This is a critical Songbird bug, and needs to be one of your top priorities before you release Songird 1.0!
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?I believe there MAY be a link to iTunes.
I was able to edit the metadata of my songs until they were added to my iTunes Library.
I haven't studied this completely however.
I’m undecided

Inappropriate?I've only had this same problem with about 2% of my music, so I'm not sure if it's just particular albums I've added, or what. 98% of my albums, I can edit everything, but on a couple, I can't. Is there a reason for having this issue?
I’m perplexed
