My Feathers won't install -- nothing happens after restart
Whenever I try to install a feather, the install doesn't complete. It installs, and then when I hit restart, after my program reopens nothing has installed. I've tried deleting the extension material in the profile folder, but it didn't work.
I'm very frustrated, because today is my first day using Songbird. Any suggestions?

Inappropriate?Please give us some details:
1. Operating System?
2. Songbird Version?
3. What feathers have you tried?
Also: Do you see the feathers in the menu "View" -> "Feathers" ?
I’m confident that we can solve this
-
Inappropriate?1. Vista Home 64 bit
2. Songbird 1.1.2
3. A variety: MediaFlow, YABS, Sparkle, etc.
Other extensions seem to install ok (Music Recommender, Playlist Export Too, etc.) -- just the feathers don't come up. And no, they don't appear in the view menu -- just Gonzo does.
Thanks! -
Inappropriate?Okay, this seems to be an old problem on VISTA, where some add-ons, especially feathers, are not installed. It doesn't seem to be solved, yet:

Can you please try to create a new, blank profile with the Profile Manager?
And can you then please try to install the Clorophyll-Feather at first? (It doesn't use a lot features, that could interfere.)
I’m still confident

Inappropriate?Tried it, still no luck. A new profile wouldn't install Clorophyll for me. :(
How frustrating! I remember having this problem with a firefox extension: I could only fix it by manually unpacking the .xpi file, and then placing the folder in the Profile folder. I tried that now, but it didn't seem to work -- where do feather data folders live? Just in the "Extensions" folder? -
Inappropriate? For more reading on the topic, here are other vista/feather related bugs: http://tinyurl.com/mgfq2h
They are all closed as "works for me" but the details show other users having vista/feather hiccups.

Inappropriate?Mh, if a new profile didn't help, I'm out of ideas.
I did some research, but unfortunately I haven't found anything useful. Considering, that you had similar problems with Firefox, is it possible that you have problems with your restriction settings or antivirus or something?
And yes, the feathers have to be in the "Extensions" folder, exactly like any other extension. If you want to try a manual install, the following procedure works for me (tested with BlackFuzz-Feather):
1. Download the feather .xpi and close Songbird.
2. Extract it on your desktop (rename it to .zip, if needed)
3. Look into "install.rdf" and find the ID of the Add-on. (For BlackFuzz it's "{312162cc-4ae7-4c46-aef2-06fd519d7a15}")
4. Create a new folder, and rename it to the ID.
5. Move the "install.rdf", "chrome.manifest" and "chrome"-folder and eventually other folders into this new folder.
6. Move the new folder into your profiles extension folder, so you end up with this:
C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Songbird2\Profiles\SOMETHING\extensions\{312162cc-4ae7-4c46-aef2-06fd519d7a15}\install.rdf (+ chrome.manifest, + \chrome\, etc.)
7. Start Songbird.
