My Songbird crashes all the time!
My songbird keeps crashing. I'm fucked with this. It plays sometimes for a while, but sometimes I can't even get through a whole song. What's up? please help me. I would like to use songbird as my main music player. I love firefox, it's the best thing since sliced bread! So I'd like to use anything involved with it. It just crashed again, I'm about to start iTunes. Fuck! Please help me.

Inappropriate?I know how you feel man. my songbird has crashed more than 5 times today. The only thing i've been doing is playing music and sometimes songbird just decides to crash. Some details for anyone who cares:
Windows XP SP3
1GB RAM
Pentium 4 (2.4GHz)
Songbird 0.7.0
One thing you must remember though Jason is that Songbird is still in its infancy. its still in the beta phase and isn't anywhere near complete. So i'm sure that this, and many other problems will be fixed when songbird 1.0 releases. Until then, songbird will have problems but will keep on improving. This is what keeps me from turning back to itunes. Hopefully a company representative will help you out soon though :) -
Inappropriate?Details for my environment when it crashes:
Mac Pro Intel OS X 10.5.5
512 MB
Songbird/0.7.0

Inappropriate? My Songbird installation has been crashing like crazy since last night.
Unlike most nights, I decided to use the download manager feature in Songbird (instead of Right-Click > "Save link as..."). So, instead of finding the folder I wanted to save it in when I clicked the "Download" button, I type it out*. As soon as I hit Enter, I realize that the folder I typed doesn't exist. So I go into Explorer and create the directory for the mp3. I then noticed that Songbird still didn't download the file. So then, I cancel the download. The it wouldn't cancel. After that happened, I just downloaded the mp3 the way I always do ("Save link as..."). A few minutes later, Songbird crashes. So I start it up and notice that there are three Download tabs in the sidebar, instead of one; only one of them are functional. So I remove the unusable tabs, and go on with my life. 10 minutes later, Songbird crashes again. I restart, now there are 4 Download tabs. This time, I exported my playlist into m3u in case something really bad happened. It crashed 5 minutes later as I scrolled down a Google search results page. This continued for about 20 times until I just gave up.
Oh, and I'm certainly not ready to just replace the profile with a new one. If I do, I'd have to reset all my settings, download all my addons, and worst of all, I'd have to find all my album covers again [well over 400 of 'em].
Now if you don't mind, I'll be off to play Gears 2 while you guys ponder about my dilemma.
*By the way, I set Songbird to ask me where to save a file every time

By the way, this is my latest error report:

Inappropriate?I have a major problem with mine too.
Whenever I open it once, it will work fine. But if I
a) leave my computer on standby
b) Let my computer go to a screensaver
c) try to add to or modify an mp3 player or its associated playlist
It freezes and crashes. I do love songbird, and I realize its still a beta, but I'd really like to get it to work.
I'm running a Windows XP Service pack 3, with the theme YABS and about 200 songs synced to it already.

Inappropriate?I recently switched from XP to Ubuntu and now I love songbird.

Inappropriate?Argghh! I hate iTunes. Please DO NOT make me go back! Songbird has the potential to be the iTunes killer. It along with Firefox and other open source works have the potential to lead the revolution against Nazisoft. However, Songbird HAS TO WORK FIRST!
Songbird crashes incessantly. Songs do not play. Songs disappear out of my play lists. The so called duplicate finder called Exorcist does NOTHING! Recently I have been getting an error
playlist.xml - onPlaylistClick - [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x8000ffff (NS_ERROR_UNEXPECTED) [nsITreeView.getCellProperties]" nsresult: "0x8000ffff (NS_ERROR_UNEXPECTED)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://songbird/content/bindings/playlist.xml :: _onPlaylistClick :: line 1788" data: no]
SOMEONE somewhere has GOT to have some answers. And someone tell the Exorcist author to fix his add on! It does not work!
And no, uninstalls and reinstalls do not resolve the issues.
I’m NOT HAPPY!
-
First: Calm down, please. It's just a Media Player that is not working correct, it's not your cardiac pacemaker. Also I usually don't try to help people who choose to use words like "Nazisoft" or "Exocrap" or who think that an add-on author has to do something, but I give it one try:
Have you tried to create a new Profile with the Profile-Manger, too? This helps me out of a lot of wired problems, sometimes (and a reinstall of Songbird doesn't help usually, because the (corrupt) Profile remains untouched).
About Exorcist: Are you trying to find duplicated files or duplicated library entries? Because Exorcist does only the last thing. So if you have two mp3s of Hasselhoffs "I'm looking for freedom", the exorcist won't mark this as a duplicate. But if you have this mp3 only once, but multiple entries for this single mp3 in the Library, then it should work. -
Inappropriate? My songbird is crashing ALL THE TIME when i try to import tracks to library. Its loading tracks for a while and then just crashes. Seems like it only crashes when im adding a too big map, but i cant add the tracks one by one i got like 80gig ffs

Inappropriate? Is anything happening with this bug? It seems to have been swept under the rug and nothing happening.
-
Inappropriate?Well, I think they need to. Songbird is too good to not use. For the most part, it is the best media player I have used. Except for the few defects it has, but everything has defects
-
Inappropriate?Well, i guess its good. But i couldn't even add my files to the library and there i was stuck!
