No sound, but gstreamer works?
I've tried to play my collection of mp3s, but the sound just doesn't come out. Sound works in audacious (it has it's own plugins) for these files, but in Songbird (and Amarok and Movie Player) it doesn't come out. It looks like it's playing and the progress bar moves through the song, but no sound comes out.
I've tested gstreamer, and gstreamer itself works just fine. It can play my mp3s with the gst-launch-0.10 playbin command in the terminal. I have all the files with gstreamer-0.10 (good, bad, and ugly) installed.
I'm running ubuntu 9.04 and Songbird 1.2, but sound didn't work in 1.1. When updating Songbird didn't fix the problem, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Songbird completely, including profiles. But that still didn't work. I still have no sound. Can any one help. It would be much appreciated?

Inappropriate?Hey Clark,
First lets try to see if it has an easy solution:
Go to System > Preferences > Sound
And keep changing the default playback device to see if any of them help Songbird.. It's probably on Autodetect right now, try switching to ALSA or Pulseaudio or others...
If that doesn't work, we'll try other troubleshooting stuff...

Inappropriate? Thanks! I tried playing with the Pusleaudio playback before, but i guess I never tried the ALSA playback. It worked like a charm. Thanks, that was sure easier than I thought it would be.
I’m thankful
