it must be a tool to specify the areas of muting/blanking/skiping or even mask a portion of the screen at a specific movie.
the parent watches the movie and easily mark the scenes.
and then allow the kid to see the movie with this mask.(password protected)

Inappropriate?Interesting idea! In my childhood, my parents always put a blanket over my head on critical scenes :-D
However, I doubt that songbird is the best application for such a task, especially because Videos are not even officially supported, yet.
In my opinion, this idea would be best realized in a specialized Application, independent from the media-player, that could create a complete copy of the original movie, but with the scenes blanked out totally. Because if only the media-player has such a function, the kid can just create a copy of the file and/or watch it in a different media-player, that doesn't have this feature. -
