Organize my Library? More like COPY my Library...
Songbird copies data into "Songbird Music" when you select "Organize my Music"
This is mostly a user interface problem. I would not consider myself an idiotic user, I have written my fair share of applications and have used Songbird and other media player applications (semi) successfully..
All of my music was stored in my ~/Music/Music\ Library directory, when I checked "Organize my Library" and set up naming rules for Songbird to follow, I expected it to casually move or rename my files and folders. Leaving them in place (for the most part), and certainly keeping everything in the ~/Music/Music\ Library directory. So I applied my settings and waited.. and waited... and got bored and started browsing the web. 20 minutes later I check back and it's still churning away. I investigate.
Apparently, Songbird felt the need to COPY all of my music into ~/Music/Songbird\ Music. So now I sit and wait for around 150GB of music to COPY into a new directory on my HD. I will probably just erase the old folder and let Songbird keep its music in the new folder, but seriously..
Thanks for any attention, and I certainly do appreciate the effort of the Songbird team. It is one of the best players I have every had the pleasure of using, orders of magnitude above iTunes!

Inappropriate?Hi Jordan Perr,
If you selected the "Music Library" Location to be your current one at "~/Music/Music\ Library" it would have just renamed/rearranged your files.. If you select a different location (or the default one) to begin with, it will copy your files to the new location.
For a more in depth explanation on how it works look at stevo's reply here:

Sorry for the confusion!
