Organizing your music library on every startup.
I turned on the library manager and every time i start songbird it spends several minutes organizing my music library... Even if i have made ZERO changes to the library it does this. Is this normal, can it be prevented?
I have a large library and don't want to wait for it to organize so i can listen to my music.
I am running Windows Vista 64bit (fully updated)

It was doing this for me too, but I realised the organisation process hadn't finished with 100% success in the past and it was therefore re-trying.
If it gets to the end and you get a message saying that it couldn't organise certain files (e.g. files that are missing on your hard disk), try using "The Exorcist" (Songbird Add-on) to track down those missing files and remove them from your library.
Then re-start Songbird and it should start to organise your files and complete without any issues. Then re-start again, and it shouldn't start the organisation process this time.

Inappropriate?i would also suggest that it should scan in background and playback should be still possible like in winamp
I’m sad

Inappropriate? This is quite an annoyance for bigger libraries. I usually leave Songbird up all the time, but if I do want to listen to something and need to start it up I want it immediately!
I agree with siGGismallz that a background process would work much better, perhaps with an unobtrusive notification somewhere when it's running.
I’m somewhat annoyed

Inappropriate?I had this happen at first when I switched over from my test-setup of Sb to using my full library (large) and it was due to what Chris mentions above.
Last night I did a full uninstall/reinstall of Sb, including my profile information, because I suspected all my fiddling around recently might have been messing things up internally. I also went through and found a few problem files that were hiding in my Music folder and deleted or fixed them. So far, the file-management seems to have gone through without a hitch on the first try.
I have a hunch that since Sb is treating our Music folders as if they don't have a few cob-webs in them (mine sure has picked up a few over the years), many of us might be experiencing these small hiccups as a result.
I’m confident

Inappropriate? And there is also a problem when leaving Songbird after huges changes in the library. Songbird will still run in background to complete the file reorganization.
I think it should be more explicit when leaving: asking the user whether the Songbird should stop fully (including the file org process), or stay visible and open until the reorg is complete.
I’m confused

Inappropriate?I'm still getting this every time I Songbird. The Exorcists did it's job, and I do let it finish every time, but I'm still getting it. I have a large (over 27k) library, this takes foreeeeever.... so what's up?
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?I have Hypersky's issue also and unlike what happens to Chris its finishing COMPLETELY but it does it every single time. I have resorted to having songbird start when my pc's starts that way when im making breakfast in the morning its doing its scan thing. This should really be eliminated or optional function. And here i thought it was just me.
I’m confident this issue will get rectified

Inappropriate?G'day,
Just wondering if you have tried the beta version of Songbird 1.4? I hear that Managed music performs MUCH better in it.
Its currently under development (nearing the end), however, I've found it to be quite stable. Its available from: http://wiki.songbirdnest.com/Develope...
