Playback Stops Intermittently
When I let Songbird just play, every once in a while when it changes to a new song it will stop Playback. Clicking on the Play/Pause button has no effect.
The only remedy is to skip to a different song, or to double click a song in the list. There doesn't seem to be much consistency as to when this happens, and is not triggered by any song in particular.
Using Win XP Pro SP2, with newest version of Songbird (1.1.2). Anybody else having this issue?

Inappropriate?G'day,
Maybe a stupid question, but do you have repeat enabled? -
Inappropriate?Yes indeed ^_^. I have it set to Repeat All, and often times on Shuffle. But now that you mention it, I seem to recall that when it first happened I wasn't using Shuffle.
At that time it would stop at the end of an album, which incidentally my library was sorted by album then. Currently however, I've been listening to music in Highest Rated view and on Shuffle. In this case the stops seem pretty random.
I’m undecided
-
Inappropriate?Okay, so I was able to confirm that playback does stop at the end of an album if Shuffle is not turned on.
When I get to the and of the last song from a particular album, Songbird will stop playing once it tries to play the next album's song. But again, this only happens when Shuffle is off. If I have Shuffle enabled, it seems to stop at random times.
I’m frustrated

This is starting to sound awfully like a bug...Might be a bit difficult to diagnose without finding a pattern though I guess.
If you can find a pattern (or isolate what music is causing it), might be worth posting a bug report to bugzilla.songbirdnest.com .
If you do so, ensure:
1) That you read the guidelines. it makes things a lot easier for QA.
2) That you post your OS version, and the songbird version
3) That you are specific about as much as possible.
By the sounds of things, you need help to work out how to isolate it better. Sorry, I don't think I can help, but its possible its a single album somewhere in your collection which causes it, Its a matter of working it out though (as it doesn't happen here).
Sorry I can't help more :( -
Inappropriate?I experience this issue as well. For me it is daily. I came across this thread this morning and tried setting playback to 'Repeat All' but I've been getting the same issue.
Is there a bug already filed for this? If not, any hints as to what information would be useful?
I have seen the issue with a standard playlist as well as with a smpart playlist based on a personal playlist and last played.
When the playback stops, the last played song has completed, track title is on a new song, the playback button shows || (pause). To continue playback, I must right click on the playback button and select 'Stop', then it will play. One other note of interest, the next song to play is the next in the displayed sort order even when random is selected. This is not the song the was displayed in the track title but never started.
I’m confused

Inappropriate?Okay, so I submitted a bug report. Hopefully I did it right. If anyone else whose got this problem would also like to comment on the report, and thus demonstrate that it's more than just an isolated case, please do so after the report shows up in this list... http://bit.ly/Kg4gO
I’m sad

Inappropriate?G'day,
Link isn't correct(its http://bugzilla.songbirdnest.com/show...), but either way, the developers will let you know anyway if more information is required. If its a dupe, they will mark it as such.
-
Link seems to work for me... I used a shortener... -
What I mean is that it isn't a direct link, so I just posted a direct link to that bug. Otherwise, if you post 20 bugs in the future, it might be hard to locate the relevent one ;) -
Ah okay, I gotcha now... thanks ^_^... -
Inappropriate?I am having this exactly same problem. Songbird will play for a good 30 minutes then just Stop. I thought it was just me so i ignored it for a while. Then I thought it was my OS, Vista SP1 at the time. Changed to XP Pro (for reasons other than this) and had the same issue. Im back on vista, have updated to the latest version and this is still happening. it doesn't really bother me but i shouldn't have to stop what im doing to make my player go again,.
-
Inappropriate?Just FYI, I was able to figure out additional information for this and have already added it to the bug report. It would appear that this is indeed related to the song's sample rate.
The playback stops when Songbird tries to play the next song and it has a different sample rate than the previous. So, since most of my songs (and most people's) are at 44.1 Khz, this only occurs when Songbird switches to a song at 48 or 22 in my library (which are the only other two sample rates I have).
I'll be testing the new nightly build to see if the problem persists...
I’m hopeful
-
Actually, I recall seeing a bug report like this which was patched (but I thought it was patched for 1.1.2).
So certainly give the latest nightly a try.. -

So cmaybe double check you are using 1.1.2, otherwise as you mentioned, give the nightly a try. -
Inappropriate?I am happy to report that since switching to version 1.2.0a build 1070, I have not encountered this problem. I wanted to use it for a few days to make sure. Incidentally, Songbird is a little more responsive now too when switching between tracks altogether.
Get the latest build to fix this issue here... http://wiki.songbirdnest.com/Develope...

this solves the problem

Inappropriate?I downloaded Version: Songbird 1.2.0a, Build 1077 last week and have not been experiencing the original issue since.
I have noticed one thing, when the playlist goes between different Sample Rates the end of the playing song gets cut off. That is to say, the song stops early and the next song starts. I have not been able to determine how much is cut off, but it is close to the end every time. -
G'day,
Just wondering if the 1125 build fixes it (it certainly fixed my Windows 7 skipping issues).

Inappropriate?I have been running various dev builds up to currently running 1.3.0a, Build 1137 (20090611013054) and have not encountered this issue.
I’m happy & thankful
