Please, please! add support for airtunes
Just hoping to convince developers to add support for airtunes. I know you could wait for a plugin developer to try to hack it, but it would be such a *HUGE* benefit for those of us with airports. Consider that without it, we have to shuffle files out of Songbird and into iTunes, just to listen over speakers - that gets tired real fast. I think this would be a great addition to the core app. Thanks for considering!

I'd love this built in to Songbird as well, but for those of you who can't wait, you can always use Airfoil, which will allow you to send audio from any application to your speakers via Airtunes:

It costs $25, but I've found that it's well worth it. Support good developers! ;-)

Inappropriate?Hi Nate. We think this'd be a cool feature too - I'm working on writing an addon a bit in my spare time. I'll let you know when it's done!
-
Inappropriate?Just ordered an eeePC and an Apple Airport Express and rather hoping that songbird will sing for us all soon
-
Inappropriate?a decent airtunes solution is the last thing keeping me from a full switch over to linux. the options that are out there work but have issues like a 20 second delay before any changes to playback go into affect.
-
Inappropriate?so what's the latest on this? It's the last thing I need to make this my full time media app!!
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?in case you are on os x or windows you can use airfoil in the meantime until someone made a real songbird addon
I’m ok

I use Airfoil and it rocks. Totally worth the money. -
Inappropriate?Sorry - no updates yet. Ran into some problems and ran out of spare time!
I guess using airfoil is the best option for people who want to do this for now... -
Inappropriate?except airtunes does not work on linux. oh well.
if you do find some time to play with this it would be apprecaited.
thanks for your effort. -
Inappropriate?I think there are various requests for the same functionality.
Will be great if and when it's added! As a Linux user, I don't have the option to use Airfoil.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate? Also eager to be able to stream to airtunes
-
Inappropriate?AirFoil is a decent substitute, but integrated AirTunes support for Songbird will be awesome!
-
Inappropriate?Hi folks,
I think it would be nice if SB could connect - wireless - to external devices (a bit like an in-build airfoil. If it would recognise both Airport express and e.g. Noxon, that would be just awsome....and also a possibility to beat one of the outstanding features of itunes
This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled
How about wireless music streaming?.
I’m curious what other people think?

I think it would be great also. I do not have Airtunes, but I would rather see Songbird get more core features to get it on par with iTunes features. Things like handling podcasts/podcatching, video, etc. Then someone should look at building Airtunes support into the core or as an add-on.
