Actually, Songbird doesn't have proper Podcast support yet. It was slated to be included in 1.4/Kanye (due october), but looks like its been bumped :(
That being said though, there may be a way to get them working (haven't tried yet). In terms of where to find some online though which are independent of ITMS, there are plenty of sites (try googling podcast in google).

Nope, podcasts are off the roadmap and it is not clear they will ever support them. sorry about that, I wish it were not so, but it is. -
Actually you are correct (they updated the roadmap recently).
However, if you check the bug's filed for Bugzilla, it strongly implies that Podcasts will be added in Led Zeppelin. They just haven't confirmed that far ahead yet.. -
