Poor Start up performance
What Start-up times you have?
I have 15-20 seconds on X2 Dual Core 2.10GHz, 3 GB, Win7 x32. It is a really slow start up. Is there a way to make start up faster?

Inappropriate?Mine takes 110 secs to load songbird ver 1.2 on a pretty decent computer with a couple of addons and about a 1000 songs. Windows Media Player take 2 seconds, and Itunes take 15 secs. Also having problems with skreemr addon, but that is a different topic.

Inappropriate?It takes 15-20 seconds to start up. A fresh profile will take about 8-10 seconds.
Foobar2k makes this job in 8 seconds independent whether it's fresh or with the current library of 1300 songs.

Inappropriate?Are you running the latest version of songbird? Because if you're running an older build then you are probably missing out on a fair few performance fixes!
I am under the belief that the start-up time is to do with the size of the library and how it loads up the songs into the library which looking at some of the bugs to be fixed in the1.5 version will probably be ironed for its release late this year :)1 Comment

I made some traces whilst starting up. Most of the time Songbird is dealing with file and library operation - about 50%.
Version: Songbird 1.4.0b3, Build 1303 (20091007151242)

Inappropriate?The new one does make things slightly better, but ive got around 6k songs and it can take up a while to load for me.

Songbird 1.2... 20-33 seconds
Windows Media Player 12... 5-10 seconds
Internet Explorer 8... 5-16 seconds
IE + WMP... 5-17 seconds
Love Songbird the most...
